What do you like most about PRTG Network Monitor?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with the community!
The most valuable feature is the ability to span multiple technologies and multiple vendors.
One of the valuable features is the diversity of metrics available to us to monitor. It's all there, it's all in the box. It's all made very easy, by virtue of it being pre-configured.
The solution provides us with needed feedback on our IT infrastructure. It gives us really good quality of service when it comes to monitoring of available space and available resources. It allows us to preempt issues before they become a problem for the business.
It is a central solution in terms of how to actually use it. It has a very easy dashboard. Everything is concise. We are able to create custom sensors. For different parts of the business, we have many products across many environments, and it works for everything.
We use the remote probes a lot for our branch offices. Instead of deploying the full instance of PRTG, we'll put a remote probe out there. This simplifies the whole deployment for us.
The technical support seems to be quick, clever, and has a comprehensive knowledge base online, which is fantastic.
We can see trends for a lot of different things, such as hard drive space and bandwidth usage. We can see and plan for the future by knowing, "We're sort of at 75% capacity now. In three months time, we know we're going to be up to 90%,so we need to plan ahead for it, getting upgrades booked in place." Since things like this take time and effort, it's handy to see trends into the future of where our company is going.
It's very easy to manage when you've got time to do some work on it: things like adding devices, adding groups, adding sensor clusters, and being able to clone and move stuff around.
The most valuable feature is the notifications. As long as you spend time and think about what and when you want to be notified, it's always accurate. It is always there. I find things out before my Internet provider.
The solution provides us response times to issues.
We can see which fiber links have been used heavily and, if they are used heavily, we can introduce more links to particular buildings or particular areas.
The authentication links into our standard Active Directory authentication, which is very good.
The most valuable feature is the dashboard interface. It's very clean, it's very simple to use.
The sensors and remote probes are phenomenal. We use them for all of our global sites. The problem with our global sites are that they are all VPNs. If the link goes down, you can't monitor other solutions, as it just goes off the grid. Having remote probes allows them to still carry on and get the information that we need when it comes back up, sending the information to us.
The feature whereby it shows when my hard drives are moving towards thresholds that would be considered outages, before they reach that point - that is valuable.
It is pretty simple to use, which is always a good thing. It's been very reliable in updating us if any issues crop up.
The real-time monitoring and alerting are its most valuable features.
The alerting is the most valuable feature. I also like the iPhone app. I get alerts in an email on the iPhone app.
Speed of deployment is one of the most valuable features.
The sensors and probes are great, nice and lightweight, they don't take up too many resources on the system. We just deploy them out and they start reporting instantly.
The fact that I can use custom MIB files to customize my sensors for the things that are not there as a default is a good feature.
One of its valuable features is the fact that it handles multiple operating systems... And I like the fact that it tells me when things are about to fall over, which means I can preempt it and not have to wake up at three in the morning to fix it.
Its proactiveness is its most valuable feature. We already know when we come in, in the morning, if a server or site is down, as opposed to someone telling us.
The best feature is that it lets me know what is going on. I need to know if something has gone down, I need to know if something is running very slowly. PRTG tells me that.
I really love the activity library. It gives the flexibility to discover data and metrics about my interface and data server.
The product is simple and easy to implement.
