Hi,

We all know it's really hard to get good pricing and cost information.

The pricing varies considerably. It changes project by project. Some of our customers can get special prices from vendors. Some of them can't. There are some environments that change in terms of product support, however, for pricing, there are two models in Veeam. One of them is CPU socket licensing and one of them is Universal (instance-based) licensing. It just depends on the customer environment.

I use the community version of the solution. I'm not sure of the licensing costs for the paid version.

We purchase a license annually. When it comes to the cost, IBM software is significantly more expensive than the solution for our environment, although we are talking about four years ago.

We pay on an annual basis. We pay roughly $12,000 for our software subscription.

The pricing is increasingly becoming more and more expensive. In 2020, it was a good price. After the last version, 10, the price has been very, very high.

The solution keeps getting more and more expensive. They should work on the pricing. Every year, they seem to raise the price by 10-15%. They used to be cheap. Now they are costly.

Veeam is quite expensive. There are no additional costs to the licensing fees. IBM Spectrum Protect is also expensive. They should improve its pricing. They raise the price every time there is an increase in the features of the product. They should think twice about that.

The licensing is pretty good. If you have it set up correctly, it allows the solution to take on multiple jobs.

They have a free edition that can back up up to 10 VMs or physical servers. Small and medium businesses can use this edition until they can afford to get a license, and after they get a license, they just activate it on the same console. That's the amazing thing about it.

When it comes to pricing for a backup solution for data centers, you do not care about the price. We just care about the service and want it to be reliable. In terms of subscription, it really makes sense. When you want to use all the functionalities it is good that Veeam did the subscription-based model, this is what gives it the most strength on the price.

We pay yearly licensing fees for Veeam in our data centers where we're using disaster recovery and replication between our many solutions, especially cloud solutions. From the beginning, we've done our licensing from a separate channel through our data center team in Seattle.

It's a proper price, as it isn't an issue for what Veeam Backup & Replication is giving us. Obviously, we are paying licensing for our physical VMware environment. It also depends on how the VMware environment is on the side. We have a few very big nodes. So, we need a few licenses and maybe if people had more nodes and sockets and each node was managing less information, machine supplies could be different.

The contract we have for this solution is affordable. It's not too expensive. That said, I don't know the exact pricing. I don't handle billing or licensing at my organization.

This is an expensive product, so reducing the cost would be an improvement. The difference between IBM and Veeam Backup & Replication is insignificant. It is approximately $4,000 to $5,000 for the purchase of the product and I paid an additional $2,000 for the renewal.

The price of this product is very good. In fact, this is why we acquired it in the first place. It was relatively cheap and also good.

I'm told that Veeam Backup and Replication is a cost-effective solution, and it's very competitive in terms of pricing. It's cheaper, and it's going to be up ahead of the competitors in terms of pricing by sockets. Compared to other vendors, they're much cheaper, and Veeam is almost everywhere now.

I don't know what the costs are for sure, but I think that it's on a yearly basis. I don't think there are any costs in addition to the standard licensing fee.

The price is reasonable compared to NetBackup, Backup Exec, Dell, Micro Focus, or Acronis, then Veeam is lower in price. Micro Focus's pricing is not too bad either because they changed the licensing model.

If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive. The price of Micro Focus will beat Veeam, but then you're missing one or two functionalities which is good to have for disaster recovery.

While we work with the standard version of the solution, if you want to upgrade, the pricing is too high. They could work to make it more affordable for the Polish market. It's too high for most companies to afford. If it was more affordable, it could be more accessible.

My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point. They have two different models, where one is based on the sockets that you're protecting, and the other is based on instances, or servers. You can choose whichever model works best for you.

Actually, the most important criteria for us when considering a solution is service. When we are taking a decision regarding the hardware or software or any applications, then first we need to tell where and what the services they are giving us. Then we evaluate the service level element. The main important criteria when selecting a vendor are then what are the features and services available in the devices or applications. This should be our main selection path to select any hardware devices or applications. Because of our world, in the market, we can get low prices on devices or we could then see what is available. What I actually need is what I need to deploy, the features I need to be deploying in my architecture. That needs to be considered first in systems administration because the price can vary. In my personal experience, these values and features should be the first standard for selecting a device or application.

The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill. The price of Veeam and its software related products enable you to have your own hardware. You can use your own infrastructure and you can actually buy what you want. This is cost-effective. It might be that if you buy something else and they have media things it's very expensive but it works very well. If your company has pressure to actually get back data very quickly, it might not be possible with this solution. Our college environment doesn't seem to have this problem. There has not been much down time but I think if the server is broken, it just restores within an hour and everything returns back to normal.

Setup cost and licensing of Veeam are nothing to complain about when compared to similar products for enterprise backup recovery solutions.

Plan your long-term backup strategy for growth and size the solution appropriately. Veeam has a number of setup options to choose from so make sure you understand them to make the right decision. I would always suggest a multi-year agreement as this will allow for the best possible ROI of licensing.
