I work as a network security engineer at a tech services company.
I am currently researching intrusion detection and prevention solutions. Which is the best solution in this category? Which would you recommend?
Thanks! I appreciate the help.
The best is TippingPoint and is owned by Trend Micro. It is a purpose-made NG IDS/IPS system. This also gives access to DiVLabs and they own the Pwn2Own contests and Zero Day Initiative. They are responsible for finding the most vulnerabilities by far. Check out this link: https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/
Cisco Firepower NGIPS- Cisco's Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention System comes in software and physical and virtual appliances for small branch offices up to large enterprises, offering throughput of 50 Mbps up to 60 Mbps. NGIPS offers URL-based security intelligence, AMP Threat Grid integration, and is backed by the company's Talos security research team.
There are many cybersecurity tools available, but some aren't doing the job that they should be doing.
What are some of the threats that may be associated with using 'fake' cybersecurity tools?
What can people do to ensure that they're using a tool that actually does what it says it does?
