This is not a valid question as JIRA is a Defect Management Tool while HP ALM and Octane are true Test Management tool and the only area you can compare is there repective Defect Management Capability.

About me

A hardworking and determined but flexible ISEB/ISTQB/HP AIS ALM certified Software Tester who
is able to work well as part of a team or autonomously and who is quick to learn and adapt to new ideas. Specialising in software testing since 1989 with exposure to all aspects of the testing lifecycle (Dev/Ops, Agile, RUP, Waterfall, V-Model). My Experience in the (UK and New Zealand) covers the managing of testing processes within established testing teams or starting a testing department and processes from scratch, documentation and execution across a variety of platforms including Client Server, Web Applications, Ecommerce/Transactional Applications, Real Time Embedded Systems, Medical Imaging (CT/PET/Breast) Systems, Flight Data Recorders, Nuclear MOX Plant Information Systems, Vessel Tracking Systems, GIS, GPS, GUI, Infrastructure, EDRMS Systems (Microsoft Sharepoint, HP TRIM), Automotive and Telecommunication Systems.

I have practical experience with Borland, HP, Mercury, Microsoft and IBM Rational testing tools including, the Implementation of these tools. I am proficient in the production and maintenance of all aspects of test documentation and supporting documentation including test strategies, test specifications, test plans, acceptance criteria, test scripts, test conditions, test coverage metrics, QA processes & documentation, build and release management. Additionally I have experience with Context-Driven testing & Exploratory testing and reporting styles using Session Based Test Management (SBTM). As well as been proficient in using mind maps for building test ideas.

I am now looking forward to finding a position where I can utilise my expertise and further my career as a Test Professional.
