Please note, UFT does have API testing. UFT is basically QTP with Service Test bundled with it.

Kevin, this is a well-written article and I like how you clearly defined the different terminology such as DevOps vs. DevSecOps.

Very well-written review and to the point.

@Ashish Yelkar Good point. It would nice to be able to save SQL queries that are used often.

@AlokPillai Thank you for your quick reply. What has been your challenge automating Pega applications?
1) What do you mean by tool’s limitations? 2) Can you please elaborate on what video testing is? Also, there several different frameworks that can be used with UFT. I am not clear about the context of how you are using the word framework. Can you please elaborate?
Can you please elaborate on the stability situation you are encountering? Do you mean UFT using a lot of memory when executing scripts?

ALM Quality Center only supports IE Browser. It would be beneficial if ALM Quality Center supported other Browsers such as Chrome.
This is a good question.  Ideally, if you can find a person that is very well experienced in the Industry/product domain and is experienced automating it yields better results. For example, a tester who has a lot of experience with SAP will be much more successful testing…

My advice would be for the company to assess its needs. UFT works best in a company that is using many different applications. For example, if your company uses different Browsers (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and IE). Furthermore, consider if your company does more than just…

My experience with SQL Server has been doing database testing with UFT. The main challenge we encountered is finding the correct connection string to use when performing database testing. Other than that, we encountered no issues.

It is easy to upload different kinds of attachments and also download them when needed. Also, can assign different User Roles to new users as needed.

Nice article. When you are using Browsers such as Chrome, Edge, or Firefox do you have to install or use an extension for any of these Browsers?

Interesting article. Are you able to use Dynatrace to run metrics on the type of Browsers your customers are using?

I like your article because it is well written. I noticed you said your team uses Java. What is the advantage of using Java over JavaScript?

Your review is well-written. Will TestComplete run on a locked computer?

Nice article. Have you used the Web Services module of UFT for API testing?
Good article. Did you learn Selenium through a training course or by hands-on (on the job) learning?
Nice article. A person can download UFT and get trial license for free, which is useful for evaluating the tool for your company’s needs.
Good article because it is very objective. At a previous company we used Dynatrace and the tool is so detailed you can get the details of the keystrokes of an actual end user when troubleshooting where a production situation occurred.

Very informative review. I did have a question. Are you using every module in ALM and are you running automated tests from ALM?
Nice article Judith. However, I am a little baffled about your comment stating UFT only works with Internet Explorer. UFT also works with Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. The user just needs to add the extension for the Browser they want to use.

Interesting article. Referring to your comment about having to update the script when the UI changes, you are correct. I have found that running in “Maintenance Mode” is the quickest way to update a script when the UI changes.

Nice article. What technologies are you using that UFT has a challenge with object recognition?

Based on my 10 plus years of experience in automated functional testing, my advice is the following. 1) First, determine what the most important need is for acquiring an automated testing tool. 2) Write out your company’s core systems, applications, and processes that are…

A very well-written article that clearly shows the new features. However, it would be really helpful if UFT had a Print button like QTP did to allow the user to print out their code directly to the printer.

I updated my review and the significant takeaway is that HPE sold its software testing tools to Micro Focus and on September 1, 2017 the HPE testing tools including ALM and Quality Center officially have been rebranded to Micro Focus.

Abin, nice and concise article. Regarding your statement about session timeout not being long enough - the QC Admin can change the settings in the Site Administrator to however long you would like it to be.

Answered a question: UFT 14 vs UFT 12.54

The predecessor to UFT was QTP. Also, QTP was originally developed and sold by Mercury before HP acquired it.

Deva, thanks for answering my question and the point of my question is that being proficient at Java is usually the case before learning Selenium. From your response this seems to be true.

Deva, the question I had is were you already proficient in Java? It is my understanding a person needs to be a Java developer or close to it to be proficient at Selenium.

With regards to Microsoft Edge, I did more research on this using UFT 12.54. Microsoft Edge uses the Microsoft Webdriver to interact with UFT 12.54. Note, it is recommended to use Windows build 10.576 and greater to get better functionality with Edge browser and UFT 12.54.

Jim, Thank you for the reply and it answered my questions. I worked on a couple of SAP projects several years ago and I remember it is a very high-tech, high-quality Enterprise Solution. I remember having to pad a lot of data with the leading zeroes in the data-table.

Robert, thank you for the reply. I do know that QC/ALM has version control, yet I have seen companies use another tool for version control eventhough they had QC/ALM.

I wanted to add a comment on my review. UFT has the functionality to have more than one test open at a time which is a big improvement because it allows the developer to copy and paste code from one test to another. With QTP you could have only one test open at a time.

Jonas, thank you for the reply. There seems to be an on-going debate among QTP/UFT users as whether to use a shared OR or one OR per action. Just out of curiosity, what type of application is your company using that can only be automated by by UFT? Also, what add-ins are…

Yahia, thank you for your comment. I have noticed that in some cases a scenario may exist (such as a certain browser) that is officially not supported but may still work anyway. HP UFT 12.02 and UFT 12.51 cannot co-exist using concurrent licenses because starting with UFT…

To answer the question why we have not upgraded to UFT 12.51 is because starting with UFT 12.50, HP changed the type of licenses, and due to workload and project deadlines we have not had bandwidth to do upgrade, yet. We have several UFT 12.02 scripts scheduled to run every…
