About me

As an experienced professional I am able to bring a unique IT viewpoint to the table. My career path has taken me from desktop support to systems administration to network engineering and currently network and information security. I am able to draw from these experiences to see how all the different pieces of the IT puzzle fit together. Sometimes the pieces you have don't fit perfectly but you make do and squeeze them into place, they will fit nonetheless.

I have a strong passion for getting the job done right the first time. This means ensuring that best practices are adhered to and documentation is up-to-date. In order to keep myself current I am consistently reading. To make sure that I understand the best practices, I have studied for and obtained the following certifications along the way: CISSP, CCNP, CCNA Security, Security+, CCNA, JNCIS-Sec, JNCIA-Junos, MCSA(2003), Network+, and A+.

Another passion I have is strategy. This word can be very broad and sometimes vague, so let me explain. In order to make sure something gets done correctly, we need to understand the end goal and how to get there. If we follow a plan step-by-step and never understand where we are going, odds are we'll never get there. Even if we do get there, the end product might not be what we wanted in the first place. I stand from a scenic viewpoint with a set of binoculars. By standing at the viewpoint, I see it all at once and the binoculars help to see the finer details.

While I don't claim to know everything, I can learn anything.
