About me
-Interested in IT Management, IT Director, or Team Lead positions but would be good with a Linux/UNIX administrator or Hadoop Adminitrator position that may have management at some point down the road. I have past management and project lead experience, along with solid teaching, counseling, and personnel development skills.
-Currently working as a Big Data Administrator running Hadoop on Cloudera Manager. It's a new environment for me and very interesting.
-Sr. System Administrator with 17 years of UNIX experience including HPUX (certified), Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu, other), Solaris, AIX.
-3 years virtual experience with VMWare, Proxmox, and Linux KVM.
-14 years of monitoring experience using the following tools: Nagios, HP Openview experience which includes work in OMU, NNM, Reporter, OVPM, Glance, Perfview, OVAA. Adept at SNMP, ICMP, and MIBs
-12 years experience in Backup software including Data Protector, Legato Networker, Veritas.
-Shell scripting experience including Bourne, BASH, KSH, and some Perl.
-Like to wear multiple hats and enjoy teaching and technical writing
-Have past experience in broadcasting with 18 years as an On-Air host, news director, sports director, and program director.
-Have also worked with troubled teenagers as a counselor.
Specialties: Server administration, monitoring, scripting, technical writing, server installs, depot building, user administration and security, teaching, communication, server architecture.
