About me

I am a systems engineer with 10 years real world experience in Auckland, New Zealand. I completed CCNA semesters 1-4 while at high school, and started working part time at Datacom after school at age 17 before going full time after graduating. Since then I have completed ITIL v3 Foundry, 2 Microsoft qualifications, Cyberoam CCNSP and am currently studying VMWare VTSP with intentions to progress to VCP level.

I have self taught myself windows SBS/windows server/exchange migrations, SQL migration/administration/failover clusters, HyperV failover clustering in 2008 r2 and 2012, and VMware Vsphere 5.0/5.5 including vcenter managed clusters and VMware update manager. I am also familiar with networking concepts such as routing and VLANS and have deployed these skills in situations such as segmenting vm's in a VMware cluster to a DMZ and redesigning the network topology of a 120 user site while implementing VLAN segmentation/prioritization of VoIP traffic for IP phones.

I present well to clients and a history of customer service roles prior to Datacom which has given me good communications skills, and contributed to my project management abilities having delivered over 20 successful projects in the last 3 years with sites of up to 120 seats and multiple branch offices. I have good critical thinking and logical problem solving skills and believe in the importance of delivering solutions to fit the customer needs.

I strongly believe in adhering to best practice deployments and full testing/performance tweaking before implementing systems into the production environment to ensure consistency, reliability and scalable solutions. I make it a priority to consider key deliverables, budget and flexibility when tailoring solutions to client needs.
