After thirty odd years in the commercial world there are two things I know for sure: the first is that without the right internal processes and reporting, a business will die… the second is that data is worthless without commentary. After graduating from the University of Waterloo, I was lucky enough to be snapped up by IBM working as a systems engineer on multiple projects (some software based, some hardware based). My specialty was decision support, which meant I worked closely with business users, and grew to identify with their mindset and appreciate their challenges.

After several other formative roles with Lexmark and Unisys, I joined a Performance Management software start up, we grew the company to a size relevant to the larger players and eventually were acquired by a US BI software company.
