Atlassian is an Australian enterprise software company that develops products geared towards software developers and project managers. Atlassian is headquartered in Sydney, Australia. On February 14, 2014, Atlassian president Jay Simons announced the opening of an Austin office that will eventually employ 600 people. Atlassian was founded in 2002 by Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar. In 2006, Cannon-Brookes and Farquhar were named Ernst & Young's Entrepreneurs of the Year.

Spiceworks is a professional network for the information technology industry that is headquartered in Austin, Texas. Spiceworks is an online community where users can collaborate and seek advice from one another and also engage in a marketplace to purchase IT-related services and products. In 2005, Scott Abel, Jay Hallberg, Greg Kattawar and Francis Sullivan began discussing ways to build a social network for IT professionals where users could help one another solve common tech problems.
