DataCore Software is a leading software defined storage vendor specializing in storage virtualization, storage management, and storage networking. DataCore was founded on February 4, 1998 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The original team of 12 employees had previously designed and pioneered high-end storage subsystems at Encore Computer. The company was formed to build portable storage virtualization software to manage and control storage resources and insulate users and applications from storage-related disruptions. The company also describes itself as a leader in software defined storage architectures based on its solutions being hardware independent and managing and auto-tuning the performance and utilization of all forms of storage including flash memory technologies, spinning disk drives and Cloud storage.

It specializes in developing and manufacturing computing, data storage, and networking hardware, designing software and delivering services. Major product lines include personal computing devices, enterprise and industry standard servers, related storage devices, networking products, software and a diverse range of printers and other imaging products. HP markets its products to households, small- to medium-sized businesses and enterprises directly as well as via online distribution, consumer-electronics and office-supply retailers, software partners and major technology vendors. HP also has services and consulting business around its products and partner products.
