Development of the GNU operating system was initiated by Richard Stallman at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Artificial Intelligence Laboratory as a project called the GNU Project which was publicly announced on September 27, 1983, on the net.unix-wizards and net.usoft newsgroups by Richard Stallman.
JetBrains is a software development company whose tools are targeted towards software developers and project managers. The company's first product was IntelliJ Renamer, a tool for refactoring Java code. In 2012 Sergey Dmitriev had been the company's CEO for 12 years, when he entrusted the company to two newly appointed CEOs, Oleg Stepanov and Maxim Shafirov, and devoted himself to his scientific endeavors in the field of bioinformatics.
