What is most valuable?

All the Blue Medora vROps management packs have features like: · OOTB dashboards · Collected metrics · OOTB Reports · Alerts and recommendations · External relationships · Capacity planning * Reduced… more»

How has it helped my organization?

Using VMware vRealize Operations with Blue Medora TVS helped to centralize data center operations monitoring platform. By adding the True Visibility Suite, its helped to monitor applications… more»

What needs improvement?

One missing component was the integration of Log Insight and vRealize Business within vROps. But, with the new version of vROps (v6.5 & v6.6), this requirement was also met with, as the other products… more»

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The True Visibility Suite is available in three editions: Standard, Advanced and Enterprise. These packages align with the various infrastructure teams, and offer a convenient way to pick the best… more»

What other advice do I have?

* Conduct workshops and capture monitoring requirements at a high level; document and understand the customer's requirements. * Study the customer’s infrastructure, as it will be useful during the… more»

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

There were a couple of options that we considered, like Microsoft SCOM and SolarWinds, but the level of monitoring and dashboard visibility wasn’t there.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for me is the different views that you can get when selecting an application or a VLAN. It shows you the traffic flows. It gives you a visual representation of something that, in text, just may not make as much… more»

How has it helped my organization?

It hasn't improved the way our organization functions, yet. It's only been in for two or three months and we're still trying to figure out the best way to pull the data out so that we can start building those firewall rules. But we… more»

What needs improvement?

When we talk about those micro-segmentation rules, there's an Export function. It is very macro-segmentation oriented instead. So if you choose an application, it will find the tiers within that application and say that it's communicating… more»

If you previously used a different solution, which one did you use and why did you switch?

We did not have a previous solution. We have a project to migrate from legacy networks into NSX-T. This solution was installed to facilitate that move, so that we can get there. It was recommended by our VMware TAM Services and by some of… more»

What other advice do I have?

I want to say it's a 10 out of 10. If they fix that micro-segmentation thing it will absolutely be a 10. Right now it's about an eight out of 10. I think it's just a big jump. If they can fix that micro-seg, that means so much more to me… more»

What do you think of VMware vSphere?

What is our primary use case?

Cloud computing service (IaaS) Private/hybrid cloud Virtualization infrastructure Virtualization desktop infrastructure.

How has it helped my organization?

High availability causes downtime service because it is needed to reboot VMs. Fault tolerance is limited by the four vCPUs. The service provider is not easy to integrate via API like OpenStack.

What is most valuable?

vCloud Director, because we may use it as the dashboard for providing cloud services. vCenter  vSphere, because it helps us in the management of thousands of VMs in the coverage UI.

What needs improvement?

The SDK/API to help SPs (service providers) provide the pay-as-you-go business model in cloud service.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

How has it helped my organization?

vRealize Automation is improving the way we host and serve up our fully hosted private cloud solutions as a cloud service provider. It has created efficiencies in how we deploy, manage, monitor, and develop within the service. It provides velocity both from management and customer perspectives, from… more»

What needs improvement?

Most of the areas for which there was room for improvement are being covered in the latest 7.4 release which will include all new workflows for additional management of a customer’s cloud and infrastructure, directly from the Web portal itself. Some of these features today require the ability to… more»

What other advice do I have?

From experience working with other service provider cloud products, VMware vRealize Automation Center is the best out-of-the-box solution to quickly build out your cloud portal and fully integrate it into your orchestration layers, as well as your compute and storage infrastructures. It can support… more»
