We performed a comparison between Amazon AWS and Dell ECS based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison of Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Amazon AWS seems to be the marginally superior solution. Our reviewers found Dell ECS’s supporting documentation to be incomplete.
"Amazon AWS has a good Redshift database."
"This solution is a good option if you are looking for cloud-based storage. Using a cloud-based solution, it is not required to accommodate a full workload. You can start with a basic version and scale up as needed."
"The payment structure is very good."
"The solution offers a low footprint. We don't have to come up with a data center ourselves. We basically don't have to own any hardware. We just rent a slice of their platform and we have everything we need."
"I think the AWS interface is good. It's easy to understand and use."
"It is quite easy to provision new virtual services for our use. The procedures are quite straightforward and simple as compared to other competitors, such as Microsoft or Huawei. This is what we are happy about with Amazon AWS. It is pretty mature in terms of the availability of most of the infrastructure components. If you want to deploy a server on your platform, everything is already there in terms of the operating system, network components, securities, and data encryption. It is also quite scalable and stable."
"The initial setup is simple and straightforward."
"It is enough for us in terms of features. We don't have too many transactions, and it is sufficient for our current needs."
"It is a stable solution."
"What I like best about Dell ECS is its stability. I also like that you can use it for large-scale data purposes. The solution works fine for me, and I haven't encountered any issues with it."
"The scalability is good."
"We face very few hardware failures."
"It is a stable platform."
"The stability is the most valuable aspect of the solution."
"The tool is easy to use."
"Dell's technical support team is good."
"They're really good on the business computing side, but there are other services where they can do really well. They can improve the data analytics platform and the data warehousing platform."
"The user interface (UI) needs improvement. Right now, it's not the best."
"This solution could offer more security."
"The solution is pretty mature."
"I'd like to see AWS implement consolidated billing for businesses operating under one group. We want to consolidate the functionalities but keep the billing separate. That is a challenge we've faced, and I feel it's something they can improve on. For example, maybe you have three businesses that are operating under one group, and you want each entity to have a separate bill for the respective workload that they're using."
"I want to use AWS as a full solution for my website - for domain and website hosting, and everything in between - however, I was not able to find everything together."
"Amazon support could be better."
"More complete and specific training for many of the technologies, specifically with Python Django and the CMS (Mezzanine)."
"There is room for improvement in the DPI reports, as they could be made more user-friendly."
"Dell EMC ECS should support segregation of duty, particularly for role-based access controls. Having a single pane of glass for smarter observation and better control mechanism would also make this solution better."
"Dell EMC ECS could improve by having Relational Database Services(RDS) to review progress. Additionally, if the training was provided it would be a benefit, it would be good for our engineers."
"Dell ECS needs to improve its performance."
"They do not have complete documentation, which is very weak and could be improved."
"The initial setup is not so easy."
"It is a good solution, except for the cost."
"They need to ensure that the system will work if a site goes down."
