We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It is very easy to set up. It is also easy to use. It has a lot of services and integrations. We've been able to integrate whatever we need until now.""Amazon AWS has a better portfolio. They have an impressive technology and service portfolio.""The storage is most valuable. The gateway and documentation are also quite good.""Almost everything is good. It is a whole ecosystem. It is not only the storage, computing, or networking. It is interesting in the way all things are combined to form this ecosystem. It is a very well-built and logical ecosystem that has some small building blocks. These building blocks can be used in the right way to build a much bigger ecosystem that is robust, secure, scalable.""The price forecasting and billing dashboard by service, with billing budgets and alerts, have helped us shut down resources that were accruing costs that we no longer needed, saving us money.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the S3.""As a service vendor, we have helped clients to achieve faster "go to market" on their products, and have provided highly flexible cost-effective system management solutions.""Since AWS came a bit later to the market, they are always improving and upgrading their platform."

"The most valuable feature of QuickBase is its dynamic form capabilities. These forms allow backend automation, making tasks like updating data based on specific conditions much easier.""I am impressed with the product's automation which makes everything easy.""It is low-code. We are able to go in and create apps quickly. It is very helpful for the size of our company. We're a mid-size company, and at this moment, we don't need anything externally. We don't have to go out and consult a consulting firm to build something from the ground up. So, the ease of that and being able to get development quickly up and running has been good for us.""We have made good use of the ability in QuickBase to add multiple apps for various departments and purposes, while some apps are shared.""The need for little to no code knowledge has been huge.""I run my own business and the solution allows me to invoice and pay for additional resources. It has helped me in terms of invoicing, quoting, and doing recruitment measures.""Allows users have anytime/anywhere access.""It has superb ease of use and no code needed to create and build apps and databases."

Cons
"I would appreciate more direct support from AWS.""There should be improvement in terms of creating databases of varying sizes which would provide flexibility.""I'd like to see integration with MySQL.""In terms of technical features, I don't see anything missing. The only two points in favor of other providers are the price and local support. The main problem that we see here in Brazil is the price. It is much more expensive than any other cloud provider. Their local support can also be better. We get more support from some of the other providers here in Brazil as compared to AWS.""The product should reduce carbon emissions.""Price can always be cheaper.""One problem is that the AWS public cloud doesn't have shared storage capabilities. The second thing is the cloud performance versus on-prem.""They should implement the command shell by default. As it is now, to open the console, you have to download the command application."

More Amazon AWS Cons →

"I would like the product to add more working processes.""When learning QuickBase, I noticed a shift in its cost structure. It operated on a cost-efficient model tied to the number of users, with invoicing based on applicants.""Access to more standard default layouts and sample builds would be useful, and access to more training on use and flexibility.""I would like to see the reporting enhanced because some of them are not easy to generate.""Unfortunately, there is still no new report formatting available natively, and would still require 3rd party developers to help with that. .""Its UI needs improvement. They should improve it and make it a little bit more modern. We should also be able to have more real-time information that connects with other software platforms. It has an open API, but it doesn't always connect with some of the other platforms that we would like to utilize. These are probably two of the biggest things for us, and hopefully, they will keep ensuring that in the future, they continually build QuickBase to be a little bit more efficient in that regard.""There is room for improvement in terms of user-friendliness.""They could enhance the ability to link records between tables directly without the need for additional automation to increase space and time."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Be careful with your consumption, especially when you are testing things. Costs can creep up on you relatively fast, without even noticing."
  • "AWS is scalable depending on your needs so pricing is dependant on what you use."
  • "It is decently priced. The competition is also bringing its own cloud offerings, such as from Oracle."
  • "When we shifted the load to AWS we paid a high cost as the mail stores were hosted on EBS. The storage cost drastically reduced after moving to S3."
  • "If you can plan capacity for one or three years, you can use the upfront payment option which allows you to save up to 50%."
  • "One of the best thing in Amazon AWS is you are billed for the service you use."
  • "We are reducing costs year-over-year."
  • "Much faster than other solutions at a super low cost."
  • More Amazon AWS Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "We felt the pricing and licensing for QuickBase were easy enough to understand, fair and competitive."
  • "Quickbase is probably not the cheapest app out there. That said, it is worth its weight in gold. There is no other app that I know of in the market today that can do what Quickbase does."
  • "You have to negotiate the price because it varies based on the number of users you have, as well as how much cloud storage space you need."
  • "It is probably about 300 per license per person. There is just the licensing cost. There are no additional costs."

Amazon Web Services, Rackspace OpenStack, Microsoft Windows Azure and Google are the major cloud hosting and storage service providers. Athough Amazon is top of them and is oldest in cloud market, Rackspace, Microsoft and Google are giving tough competition to each other and to Amazon also for alluring IT customers. This article give brief history of these cloud hosting service providers and compares the cloud services provided by them. -- Amazon Web Services -- It's hard to find someone who doesn't agree that Amazon Web Services is the market leader in IaaS cloud computing. The company has one of the widest breadths of cloud services - including compute, storage, networking, databases, load balancers, applications and application development platforms all delivered as a cloud service. Amazon has dropped its prices 21 times since it debuted its cloud six years ago and fairly consistently fills whatever gaps it has in the size of virtual machine instances on its platform - the company recently rolled out new high-memory instances, for example. There are some cautions for Amazon though. Namely, its cloud has experienced three major outages in two years. One analyst, Jillian Mirandi of Technology Business Researcher, has suggested that continued outages could eventually start hindering businesses' willingness to invest in Amazon infrastructure. That sentiment gets to a larger point about AWS though - the service seems to be popular in the startup community, providing the IT… Read more →
