We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We went from an organization with minimal to no disaster recovery. I was able to spin up the disaster recovery environment with AWS rather quickly and meet business requirements.""The most valuable aspect of CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is its instant block replication feature. This allows us to perform live block verification and eliminates the need to concern ourselves with recovery point objectives. This capability is particularly advantageous for critical workloads.""It's on the cheaper side and not too expensive for users.""The solution is dependent on the network bandwidth. For example, if they have a bandwidth of 10Mbps the solution will run a little heavier. If the bandwidth is good the solution runs well.""We have never had any issues with scalability.""CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is a fairly stable solution.""It provides our disaster recovery solution. It works fine in our tests.""The initial setup is really straightforward."

"I'm a big fan of the reporting. You can build your own reports; it's very customizable. You can have individual reports going to groups of people or individuals. You can have them go out multiple times a day. It's basically a free-for-all as far as reporting goes. If anybody wants a specific job report every day, you can build it, schedule it, and have it go out and never touched it again. It's pretty nice.""Commvault's Command Center is one of the best solutions out there. You can rely on Commvault solutions for the most complex and most demanding environments.""Commvault has a unique administration platform with more features than its competitors.""The initial setup is straightforward.""The data is well-protected. It doesn't age off until it's copied. That's a big feature right there. When you reach the end of your retention, it does not expire until the secondary copy is completed. That allows you to hold onto data that otherwise would have aged off by retention. I like that feature. It's hard to just delete or lose data using the Commvault platform.""It is a stable solution.""The solution is very stable and offers a good level of performance.""Well documented SQL views and customizable reports, together with scripts and workflows provides ability to automate processes and ensure proper controls are in place."

Cons
"The UI could be a little sleeker.""I would like to see better support for creating and working with archives.""I have not seen any areas that need improvement at this time.""Sometimes a server will get a bit behind. ""The failback could be improved. It should be more intuitive.""The bandwidth is a constant upload communication to the AWS DR environment, so if you do not have the proper bandwidth, it will definitely eat up your internet line.""The user interface, customer support, and the recovery time for the current customer query could use improvement.""The solution's network setup and a lot of the control tower setup could be improved."

More AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery Cons →

"The functional integration could be better.""The local support could be improved.""The main area for improvement is that we sometimes experience negative effects from their updates. If they had a larger test area for their updates, that would help.""The tool must improve the 1-Touch recovery of Oracle and Active Directory.""Reduce the complexity for better understanding of the reports. There are a lot of variables in which you can get confused while elaborating on reports.""The Java interface is not great. The Command Center interface is far better and it looks nicer, but it doesn't have all the powerful features available in the CommServe/Java console. The place to improve the product is on the management interface level.""One issue we face is the complexity of the console. That could be improved on. It takes users time to get familiar with Commvault. On average, it takes our customers between one and three months to learn it. The console and the way you configure Commvault have very advanced settings. It takes time to understand how it works.""The navigation of it needs improvement in terms of the UX. The product itself, it works as expected. It's all user experience and user interface improvements that could be made and it could be made a little more consumer-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We were happy with the pricing that they gave us."
  • "They license us on a per machine basis. We have a set number of machines, which we have licensed."
  • "I feel the product's pricing is a good value. Licensing is pretty straightforward."
  • "The pricing is better now that they had come out with the Tier 2 which replicates a little less often. In comparison to what I would have been spending with any other type of solution, the pricing is fair."
  • "Where the price adds up, there are CloudEndure licenses, then there is the AWS environment, and finally, there is the AWS storage, so cumulatively, it adds up."
  • "It has saved us money from having to buy hardware for disaster recovery."
  • "CloudEndure Disaster Recovery is charging clients $20 to do the DR backups. It is an expensive solution."
  • "I rate the price of CloudEndure Disaster Recovery a six out of ten."

  • "If budget allows using the per socket license and not the agent based with per GB counter for Dedup is the way to go."
  • "There is now a subscription based licence option that, depending on your environment, could offer a more efficient method to licence the solution if you are OPEX cost driven rather than CAPEX."
  • "New licensing is easy and affordable."
  • "Licensing could be better explained. Sometimes, it's unclear what features are available in different licensing models."
  • "Compared to other competitors and vendors the pricing is fair."
  • "In my experience, compared to solutions like Veritas and Veeam, while they do have their technical pluses and minuses, Commvault can save you on average forty percent initially, and then twenty to twenty-five percent annually."
  • "The price could perhaps be lower as well."
  • "Our cost is around $20,000 per month. The previous year, it was around $30,000 per month. It now costs less because Commvault changed the licensing type for providers."
