We performed a comparison between Commvault Cloud and Rubrik Go based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two SaaS Backup solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."What I find valuable is restoring the complete server. Restoring files is also valuable, but I like restoring the server because you don't have to rebuild a new one."
"One valuable feature is unlimited backup. You can back up existing users and folders."
"The backup and restore capabilities are key. The most useful things to us about Commvault, in general, is the breadth of the applications that it can protect as well as the features inside of it, like deduplication and encryption. When people get their data encrypted, Commvault has a way to tell if somebody is being attacked through a cybersecurity threat because their data changes. So, Commvault has what they call honeypot files out there to look to see if anybody is changing these files. Only Commvault knows which files those are, so nobody should be messing with those files. If it changes, then it will alert you to say, "Oh, I potentially have somebody messing with my files." It will alert you to something going on in your environment that probably shouldn't be happening. We deploy that with all our customers so they have this capability as well."
"Commvault's Command Center is one of the best solutions out there. You can rely on Commvault solutions for the most complex and most demanding environments."
"We have VMware, Hyper-V, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL. We have a lot of different systems, and all of them are supported under one licensing agreement. That's one of the benefits."
"The compression and deduplication are great for optimizing bandwidth and speed. I don't have to worry about it or think about it, and, because it's a SaaS solution, I don't have to worry about the storage size."
"Commvault is both very stable and scalable."
"The 1-Touch recovery feature is helpful for all customers."
"In terms of stability, the product is good."
"We use the solution as a backup for our virtual environment and SQL databases."
"The solution is easy to install; our team just has to put together the plan, give it to IT and let them handle it. Other solutions are quite complex, but this is much simpler."
"Rubrik Go is very simple to use."
"The most valuable feature is the storage efficiency, as the storage footprint is very good."
"Even though the data is already in the cloud, it's an AWS, so by accessing the on-prem appliance you can still search because it is indexed from that appliance."
"Rubrik Go's best feature is data visualization."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use for backing up VMs."
"The Java interface is not great. The Command Center interface is far better and it looks nicer, but it doesn't have all the powerful features available in the CommServe/Java console. The place to improve the product is on the management interface level."
"They don't market their products well. They don't do a lot of marketing to enable them to move forward."
"The initial installation is straightforward and took approximately two days. However, the process could be more simple."
"You can't change Metallic's retention policies without contacting the Commvault support team."
"It does not have an easy deployment. The deployment is not something that just anybody can go in and deploy."
"Commvault HyperScale X is more expensive for hybrid environments than traditional solutions."
"The deployment process should be simplified because it is not something that just anybody can do."
"We had some small issues with the reporting, but that was just a matter of fine-tuning the kinds of messages we receive by email. It was a little overwhelming in the initial configuration. So we reviewed our configuration with our partner and customized the reports so that we only get the important reports. I haven't seen any big issues or things that the solution is missing."
"If you're going for Rubrik, you are not opting for the tape library because Rubrik doesn't have the fiber cable connected to the tape library."
"I would like to see better integration with applications, such as those from Microsoft, to make backing up from those applications simpler."
"Being a modern backup solution, Rubrik should have an option to back up a Kubernetes cluster."
"I believe there's room for improvement in terms of support, particularly with Tier 3 support coming from the on-call team."
"Reporting could be improved. For now, it's only exported to CSB files."
"The tool's pricing needs to be improved."
"Integration with the client is something that needs to be improved."
"If you were to compare it to, say, EMC, the availability of the documentation, training programs, and end-user education aren't as good. Rubrik could improve this."
