We performed a comparison between Dell NetWorker and Veeam Backup & Replication based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."NetWorker's most valuable feature is recovery, including the policy-based backups that can be configured."
"Dell NetWorker's valuable feature is its ability to configure the network for immutability, specifically for backups."
"Technical support for this solution is very good."
"If it's set up the right way, it's a stable product."
"The support for legacy products is very good."
"It's a good product that can be integrated easily with the Data domain."
"It is scalable software. All you need to increase is its RAM and CPU. It's pretty easy."
"The software’s best feature is data backup for any system."
"They introduced a new feature called the Immutable Repository feature, which helps protect environments from malware attacks that target backup file extensions."
"The ntegration of physical agents with our cloud connect service is positive."
"It's fairly easy to manage and set up."
"It's not complex to replicate and back up the system."
"It's a pretty complete product."
"The solution works well in two different environments, whether it is on-premises, cloud, or a combination."
"Veeam is highly scalable. In one scenario, we started with 2,000 users and scaled up to 24,000."
"The peace of mind of the backup is very important. Incremental backups make it fast and easy to use. We can recover from any failures in case of any hardware failures or malware attacks. We can do a rollback and recover our services with a little downtime. We can rollback even in the case of unsuccessful updates."
"It's not easy to integrate. We have to read a lot of documentation in order to configure the solution."
"The data storage capabilities should be improved."
"NetWorker's major problem is its legacy software."
"There should be more vendors incorporated into the solution."
"The configuration is too complex."
"In the next release, I would like to see better pricing and more integration with the other products in Dell EMC."
"They need more support for image backups."
"The web console could be a lot better."
"I would like to see more broad support for other applications such as databases, or other operating systems."
"The initial setup could be simplified."
"In the next release I would like to see a bit more intelligence as far as a solution or troubleshooting - to put it more on the level of resolution and not simply identifying there is a problem."
"I think that Veeam could improve some performance issues when the backup itself is restored. I'm also using HPE StoreOnce, which has deduplication, and when I'm trying to test or run backups, it takes a lot of time. I think they could improve the testing for backup copies."
"Veeam Backup Replication is a bit difficult to use. If you have used other solutions such as Commvault, you will find it is much easier to use. Veeam Backup Replication does backups in a different way that is not as simple as other solutions. Doing backups of SQL Servers is much easier in Commvault. However, the difficulty could be the lack of experience I have had with Veeam Backup Replication."
"Limited support for environments other than VMware or Microsoft."
"The only issue on which we would like to see for improvement would be, potentially, the ability to do some different things with recovery, like faster recovery onsite."
"In terms of what can be improved, I would say they could add automations for disaster migrations and for reverse replication. Overall, they need more automation."
