We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Pure FlashArray X NVMe helps to improve our processing speed. It is user-friendly and easy to use.""The most valuable features of this solution are its ease of use and performance.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe has low latency and high Ops. It is an evergreen model.""It has benefited my organization because it has reduced time to insights.""Pure has signature security technology, which cannot be deleted, even if you are an administrator.""The high availability of the product is the most valuable feature.""The most valuable features of Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its superior performance compared to other flash tiers, as well as its ease of use, with an intuitive user interface that is simple to deploy and use.""What I really like about this program, is that it is easy to use and easy to configurate."

"The greatest advantage is the support when we encounter incidents, as HPE's support is highly responsive.""There has been a lot of changes in HPE Primera OS, and most of the time any package related to it is simple to upgrade. It does not require any support for the operation. The customer can easily deploy any code directly from the GUI which is very good. Additionally, we have individual storage we can allocate and easily manage.""It is a stable and scalable solution with quick and efficient storage capability.""The performance of the solution is good.""The product is stable.""We sold Primera to a public university, and they're happy with it. They have been using it for about four months with no significant problems.""The features that I have found most valuable are the artificial intelligence for the storage inside of the software and firmware because customers do not like functionalities which require manual interruption.""The most valuable feature of HPE Primera is its performance and simple replication."

"It is a very stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""We do a lot of in-house, application-dependent type things, where we find the different niches to the different things. Certain things they do better. We've found that it actually does very well on some of our higher-end applications.""It provides multi-protocol, which is what gives the edge when it comes to big lineage PC workloads.""The most valuable feature is the ability to set a specific margin of performance to a specific workload.""The initial setup is pretty straightforward.""Having the option of such high-speed storage in the data center is what makes it valuable.""This storage solution is both stable and scalable, and it works for our needs.""Some of the valuable features include MetroCluster switchover, in terms of disaster recovery, it is easy to use, and flexible."

Cons
"We would like to see more visibility into garbage collection and CPU performance in the GUI.""Right now, the box itself is just strictly working as a backend storage system. It would be fantastic if we could access it directly like a NAS device through network access or SIS drives. I think they have an interface, but I am not sure how good it is. If we could address a box directly on the network without having to go through a server, it would be great. The replication schemas could be improved. We are not using replication on the storage level right now. We use a different type of replication. If their replication would be as good as the one that we have, I would probably run the replication schema because it might be faster, but I don't know that for a fact. So, I cannot say that they have good replication. All I can say is that they need to inform us better.""Many options to check performance, like read, writes, random writes, and random reads, are missing in Pure FlashArray X NVMe.""We need better data deduplication.""In terms of what needs improvement, the dashboard and management could be simplified.""The UI for this solution needs to be improved.""I want to see Pure Storage not only be for fast storage, but I want to see it be for the entire data center.""We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"HPE Primera's deduplication area is not as good as the one offered by Dell PowerStore, making it an area where improvements are required.""The reporting console can be improved with out of the box reports.""This solution would be expensive for small business and it could be priced more competitively for that market.""We've encountered issues in the past where maintaining a read-only state is essential to prevent data encryption when VPN access is impacted.""The product’s price needs improvement.""On the hardware side, you should have the ability to expand capacity to larger numbers.""Like most storage, we want to see flash become more and more stable. Like any flash that uses MLC or TLC techniques, over time, the more writes you have, the less usable the storage becomes. They try to plan for this and have a lot of extra space in the arrays, but over time, their performance does degrade. This is true for any flash storage.""There really isn't any aspect of the solution that needs improvement for the customer other than its price."

More HPE Primera Cons →

"A little more manageability, a simpler management interface. It's not necessarily that it's way overly complex. It's just that it's not as easy as the FAS series.""Things like the FlexClones, SnapVault, SnapMirror, all of that. Some of it's available on the EF series, but we like what we have in the FAS system.""The pricing could be cheaper and it should have documentation in more languages, specifically, Russian.""The management interface, while very reliable, it seems a little old now and could maybe use a little modernization.""Their problems are on the software and the controlling of the storage where they lack segmentation and federation.""NetApp could improve the speed of the rebuilding rate.""There could be an improvement when it comes to SLA support, it could be faster.""I would like to have the ability to replicate data between All Flash and other NetApp storage systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The price of this solution is good for medium-sized and large businesses."
  • "From what I see, this is competitively-priced and HPE are doing their best to stay competitive."
  • "The price to capacity ratio is good."
  • "It is basically in the mid-range of the price. It is not cheaper than Hitachi, but it is cheaper than Pure Storage. There are no additional costs. Everything was taken care of in the price."
  • "Licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis and the cost of GreenLake service is included."
  • "I believe HPE Primera and Pure Storage are similar in price."
  • "There is only a one-time license purchase needed and no additional costs. If HP could reduce the training cost, then that would be advantageous to the seller."
  • "The price of HPE Primera could improve, it is expensive."

  • "It's a lot cheaper than what the other vendors have for the same type of environment. It saves us money."
  • "Cheaper pricing is always good. NetApp has been doing everything the right way. They've been figuring out things really well, going in the right direction."
  • "It's a way to get relatively low-cost, very high-performance, low-latency block storage as a point solution."
  • "The price point for EF is considerably lower than the alternatives."
  • "he price point that we're getting is very competitive in the market. Since we are buying in such a large quantity, they gave us a huge discount."
  • "The pricing of this solution is competitive with other vendors here in Egypt."
  • "The pricing is comparable with other competitors and similar in mid-range solutions, and for high range solutions, it would depend on our requirements or needs."
  • "Adding more capacity will increase the cost."
