"The solution's most valuable feature is its catalyst mode, along with better performance, backup, and recovery.""This is a user-friendly solution.""The initial setup process is simple.""The deduplication feature in this product is amazing.""It results in more efficient storage utilization, cutting capital expenditure in half.""HPE StoreOnce is particularly useful in situations where organizations require a backup solution to store their data. Its deduplication feature is quite impressive, providing a deduplication ratio of around 25 to 26.""The product's most valuable feature is stability.""The scalability is very good."

"What I like the most about this solution is that I can change and access the Oracle backup file.""Ability to automatically detect and secure new data sources without requiring manual configuration intervention.""It's supports Unix, Linux, all of the OS's. It's very stable software.""It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...The initial setup process for the solution is easy.""The dashboards in Micro Focus Data Protector are very good. They are similar to the dashboards in Veeam Backup & Replication.""The command-line interface is user-friendly and well documented in the reference guide.""Data Protector's granular recovery features make it easy for us to create and restore backups in an understandable and user-friendly manner. Cons
"We would like to see some improvements in the Veeam Backup & Replication integration. It's good, but it has a lot of room to improve. In particular around the inability to easily move data between StoreOnce appliances.""HPE StoreOnce should come with a detailed installation guide.""This product would be improved with the inclusion of more features to security or WORM.""The user interface of HPE StoreOnce should be more user-friendly. Additionally, the configuration and troubleshooting could be better.""The solution must provide backup options for smaller capacities.""I don't see any new features that we could want or anything that could be done along those lines. Just that we need a bigger machine, so more speed.""Agnostic backups.""The solution could always be less expensive."

More HPE StoreOnce Cons →

"The GUI could be updated. The GUI hasn't changed since version 6. It's on version 10 now. The reporting could also be better. Also, while Data Protector is excellent for backing up physical hardware, it needs more features for backing up VM images because many environments use hypervisor.""The Micro Focus Data Protector support is not as good as Veeam Backup & Replication's support.""Micro Focus are improving Data Protector with every new version and since we began undergoing training with the latest version we have not faced any real challenges yet. However, their support does need to be improved, in my opinion. In certain critical cases that we've had, they did not provide a satisfactory level of support.""VM backups needs to be improved. They need to make it similar to the way Veeam and Commvault are doing the virtual backups.""Microfocus needs to build a partnership with other vendors in addition to HPE as far as cloud consolidation of backups.""The technical support was very slow.""If you compare the solution with the same specific features and enhancements on another solution, Data Protector is expensive. This is especially true when compared to, for example, Veeam.""Integration with the market applications must be improved, such as MS Exchange, MS Active Directory, SAP and Oracle. Other backup tools are more efficient with the integrated backups."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The price puts me off. It's definitely on the high side."
  • "To be honest, we were quite happy with the price, but we always want things cheaper than they are. I think for what we got, we felt that the price was quite reasonable comparing it to other products that provide that same level of functionality."
  • "There are costs for additional storage and space."
  • "Price-wise, it comes with a high price tag when compared to other products."
  • "The cost of HPE StoreOnce is very expensive."
  • "We have got a perpetual license, and we have access to all the features. If you are using cloud banks, you can store the internal data in HPE Cloud if needed. You can offload the data to the HPE Cloud. It is a licensed product. We have got around 10 TB of cloud bank storage with a one-time payment. We specifically took 10 TB for very critical offsite backups. We can also increase it in blocks if needed."
  • "The licensing schemes could improve in HPE StoreOnce and the price is high. They should reduce the price."
  • "I think the product is competitive in terms of pricing. Other products like the one from Dell are costlier compared to the tool."
  • More HPE StoreOnce Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Pricing/licensing is Data Protector's single best offering. In its most basic environment, the only license required is for whatever target device is required."
  • "The licensing structure provides cost savings to business."
  • "It is fast, reliable, and its licensing policy is great."
  • "Avoid using many LTO drives; when using fewer drives, the price will be extremely good."
  • "In Data Protector, if you need extra features, you need to buy the agents for these features. Some of the features are Terabytes, some of them are agents. There's some complexity in the pricing and licensing."
  • "The licensing cost was not annual. We didn't pay any license. We paid when we deployed and we didn't pay for anything after that. There were no additional fees after the initial payment."
  • "The pricing is around $3,000 to $5,000. The charge additionally for support and to scale."
  • "The solution requires paying for a license."
