We performed a comparison between Microsoft Powerapps and Oracle Application Express (APEX) based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Microsoft PowerApps finished ahead in this comparison. Microsoft PowerApps offers slightly better integrations with 3rd party applications and is considered to be more user-friendly. As Microsoft is a very popular ecosystem with many of our users, it is the simple choice for better seamless integration. Oracle’s APEX limitations outside of the Oracle universe presented too many challenges for our users.
"It is easy to use."
"The flows are good because they can be used in a variety of situations."
"I like the containerization of Azure."
"The most valuable feature is that PowerApps can be used by most business users. It is not only for programmers."
"Overall, the tool is very democratic. It's easy for anyone to use. You don't have to be a professional or well-versed in technology."
"The solution is easy to use and map."
"The most valuable feature is the simple data connectivity components."
"You can easily connect Power Apps with other databases, like Excel, SharePoint, SQL, etc."
"The most valuable applications within the organization are primarily data forms and extended reports."
"It has a well-designed architecture and is a simple 3rd party application."
"The most valuable features of Oracle Application Express (APEX) are the ease and speed of development. Instead of engaging a large team of middleware, front-end, and database engineers, we can have professional look at the front end and have the user interface up and running in a matter of days. However, if you want to go far and implement very custom features, it doesn't require a lot of knowledge of front-end development, such as HTML, JavaScript, or other aspects."
"Oracle APEX improved our organization by making it possible for us to implement agile project development."
"The solution's most valuable aspect is its Graphics Form Design."
"The product is fast."
"One of the most valuable features is the ability to build very fast data-driven UIs."
"I particularly enjoy the web builder capabilities, especially the Page Designer. It offers so many elements or components to choose from, which is a major plus for me."
"The solution should have more integration with other platforms."
"The notion people have is that no code equals no knowledge, and that's simply not true. Even though you don't have to write codes, you still have to know what you're doing."
"One area where the solution lacks is the limited size of the database it offers its users."
"The availability of templates needs to be improved. I understand that the ecosystem around it is still developing, but we need more templates. I would like the entire ecosystem around it to improve. I would recommend adding AI components. Even though we can always connect to Azure for AI components, they should slowly start looking at adding some AI components to PowerApps so that out-of-the-box learning can be applied to process flows. Salesforce has the Einstein layer that works along with license platforms. PowerApps should also have something similar."
"Most of my training for what I do has been by watching or learning in the community. There needs to be better training on either one of these."
"The solution could improve by having more connectors for different solutions in a way to create custom connectors. Additionally, they should make HTTP Connectors free again because it was not always a premium feature. These HTTP connectors allow you to send API requests which can be important."
"The set up of the solution could be simpler."
"The area where this product can be improved is the documentation. When we get stuck it's with the documentation when we are not able to find the codes we need."
"Oracle Application Express would be improved if you could use it on a mobile platform."
"Maybe there are other technologies that offer what APEX cannot."
"Regarding features, the solution lacks the ability to integrate with different databases. Also, I feel that Oracle Application Express (APEX) is exclusively designed for other Oracle tools."
"The solution does not include a default or custom template like other products."
"The workflow engine should be embedded in the solution."
"It should have the functionality to develop mobile applications. It would also be good if they can improve development in videos and other formats."
"There is a problem with security because the applications store passwords in the configuration files."
"Being able to only design with HTML and CSS can be limiting as to what can be accomplished."
