We performed a comparison between Check Point NGFW and Huawei NGFW based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Firewalls solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The email protection and VPN features are the most valuable."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are remote access, web filtering, and IPS."
"With FortiClient, you can easily connect when you are home, check out what you want to do, and connect to your network when you are not at work. You can switch on servers and you can check what is wrong."
"The interface is very good."
"This product is definitely scalable."
"The base firewall features are quite valuable to us."
"The secure web gateway module and the application control module are valuable. HA operations are very easy."
"SSL-VPN is very useful for us and has been very reliable."
"Check Point is more expensive but easier to manage, and their presales and after-sale support are way better than Fortinet's."
"As with any firewall, IPSEC VPN is the critical functionality. Not every organization has the budget to implement MPLS or SD-WAN, which makes IPSEC the go-to for site-to-site connectivity."
"I think that the most valuable feature is the prevention of known and zero-day threats because they are constantly trying to access your company and compromise its data."
"The central management and logging are frankly one of the top selling points."
"mart Console simplifies the management of current policies and objects, making it effortless to track an object's usage or identify unused objects, thus ensuring a tidy configuration."
"The sales, pre-sales, professional services, and tech support are all very nice."
"It gives us centralized management for multiple firewalls. For example, if I want to push the same configuration in 10 firewalls, I can push it all at once with the help of the centralized management system."
"The console or the single interface on the blades is most valuable."
"The mapping features and traffic logging are good."
"The solution's implementation is pretty easy."
"The setup is quite easy."
"The UI is quite good."
"It enables us to configure different policies and restrictions for specific users within the same subnet."
"Huawei was able to assist us in the installation of their product. The installation was very fast."
"I like that the initial setup is straighforward. It's also a scalable solution."
"One of the best things about Huawei NGFW is its ability to integrate Azure solutions. Every year, we can add new features to the firewall. The key advantage is the integration across the entire network, so it doesn't work in isolation. For example, we can manage everything with features like the secret manager or analytic IDs. The solution is straightforward. It can also detect intrusions."
"Fortinet FortiGate could improve by adding enhancements to FortiMail, FortiSOAR, and FortiDeceptor."
"From a reporting perspective, there's room for improvement. They're providing FortiAnalyzer through which one can get some enhancements, but the visibility and reporting still need slight improvement."
"It does not have key authentication for admin access."
"Fortinet needs to overhaul its documentation."
"Fortinet needs more memory to save the log files. We need it to save the logs on the hardware and not in the cloud. I know this feature is available in FortiCloud, but if we need this log locally, it is not available."
"The solution could be more user friendly."
"In the next release, I would like to see the interface simplified to be more user-friendly."
"The support costs and licensing are sometimes so expensive."
"For the user or anyone else who is using Check Point, they are more into the GUI stuff. Check Point has its SmartConsole. On the console, you have to log into the MDS or CMS. Then, from there, you have to go onto that particular firewall and put in the changes. If the management console could be integrated onto the GUI itself, that would be one thing that I would recommend."
"It would be nice if there is a mobile-friendly console for our techs."
"It can be expensive, especially for small businesses."
"The software licensing model is too complicated with all the various tiers of SKUs (i.e. per software blade). They need to simplify this for easier purchasing and renewing."
"The source package is a bit more expensive than its competitors."
"There is a huge amount of revenue lost in the financial/banking sector due to cyber attacks, so we need to have something that can highly concentrate on future cyber attacks."
"IoT should be considered in future development."
"The documentation could be better."
"The documentation needs to be improved. When they retire old models, they also retire the documentation. However, if you are still using an older model, you still need access to that documentation. And yet, they go ahead and removed it. It's gone. You are therefore stuck with a device with no documentation and technical support that isn't very helpful as they also remove support assistance as well."
"I would like to see an antivirus solution included with the product."
"Huawei NGFW should have better reporting and a dashboard for the visibility of traffic."
"The WAF capability in the Huawei Firewall is missing."
"With the Huawei firewall, none of the features comes at the top. We found out later that customer support is really not good. For this firewall, because of our customers' routine, for example, every six months they'll do a penetration test to find weaknesses. So whenever they came up with VAPT reports, they are looking to Huawei for help. I think that's basically because it's a different culture. Chinese culture and our culture is different. They have always tried to help find some excuses or say some other things that cannot help you solve the problem immediately."
"The solution is scalable but it is difficult because you need to purchase new systems, it is not just one click."
"The solution doesn't seem to be very mature. Our networking team says they are experiencing a lot of issues in the firewalls and some routers."
"The IPS feature must be improved."
