We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"For my daily analytics needs, the entire Alteryx Designer platform is beneficial.""I like Alteryx's browser tool because you can view how your data is handled live. There are many other valuable tools like transpose and the crosstab. You can quickly pivot your data, and there are connections throughout the database. It's so easy to create a connection. If you connect to sign apps or a more complex database, the tool contains all the tools you need.""Alteryx Designer's best features are that it's easy to use and performs well.""The product is very stable. The performance is reliable.""Alteryx Designer is a tool that is pretty much easy to install.""The solution is user-friendly.""The functionality of drag and drop is the most valuable. It is a very user-friendly tool that can be understood easily. My teams also work with other solutions, such as Integration Services, and these solutions are very difficult for people who don't have technical knowledge.""The features I found most valuable are the preparation features – the Join and the Transform."

"The most valuable features of Azure Data Factory are the flexibility, ability to move data at scale, and the integrations with different Azure components.""I can do everything I want with SSIS and Azure Data Factory.""Data Flow and Databricks are going to be extremely valuable services, allowing data solutions to scale as the business grows and new data sources are added.""It is a complete ETL Solution.""The data mapping and the ability to systematically derive data are nice features. It worked really well for the solution we had. It is visual, and it did the transformation as we wanted.""The initial setup is very quick and easy.""The function of the solution is great.""Data Factory's best features are simplicity and flexibility."

Cons
"Optimizing processing times is one area I would like to see improved in Alteryx Designer. Sometimes, the workflows take an extremely long time to run. There are days when I have had to wait two to three hours for a single process to complete. There needs to be a functionality to split the processes.""The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now.""The conditional join feature should be improved.""Alteryx needs to improve its web governance. The gallery you use to filter the data is something else that could use some work. For instance, if you have a report connected to a database and want to filter a specific user, you should be able to suggest a specific region or a particular year. I know that the Alteryx isn't designed for data governance, but that would be great to think about.""Its price can be improved. It is too expensive for our country. Because of its high price, we can't sell Alteryx Designer in this region. We used to be their reseller partner. There is also an additional cost for automating the data and running the flows, which makes it even more expensive. It will be very good if they can let users automate the data for free. Other solutions like Tableau provide this feature for free.""Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, the solution works slowly.""The major concern in Alteryx Designer stems from the high costs attached to the product.""The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function."

More Alteryx Designer Cons →

"One area for improvement is documentation. At present, there isn't enough documentation on how to use Azure Data Factory in certain conditions. It would be good to have documentation on the various use cases.""Lacks in-built streaming data processing.""Data Factory's cost is too high.""You cannot use a custom data delimiter, which means that you have problems receiving data in certain formats.""Data Factory has so many features that it can be a little difficult or confusing to find some settings and configurations. I'm sure there's a way to make it a little easier to navigate.""When the record fails, it's tough to identify and log.""The product's technical support has certain shortcomings, making it an area where improvements are required.""Some of the optimization techniques are not scalable."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
  • "Alteryx is a little bit expensive compared to competing solutions."
  • "Alteryx Designer is an expensive solution."
  • "I rate Alteryx Designer a six out of ten for pricing."
  • "The licenses are expensive, making it difficult to consider acquiring additional licenses to the existing ones."
  • "Each license is something like $4,000."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer as a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is a highly cheap product."
  • "I rate the price of Alteryx Designer a ten on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price and ten is high price."

  • "In terms of licensing costs, we pay somewhere around S14,000 USD per month. There are some additional costs. For example, we would have to subscribe to some additional computing and for elasticity, but they are minimal."
  • "This is a cost-effective solution."
  • "The price you pay is determined by how much you use it."
  • "Understanding the pricing model for Data Factory is quite complex."
  • "I would not say that this product is overly expensive."
  • "The licensing is a pay-as-you-go model, where you pay for what you consume."
  • "Our licensing fees are approximately 15,000 ($150 USD) per month."
  • "The licensing cost is included in the Synapse."
