We performed a comparison between Alteryx and SAS Enterprise Guide based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Data Preparation Tools solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Alteryx has helped us spend more time identifying results instead of performing analysis manually. It has helped us in our loading process, including scrubbing data and identifying data elements that need to be corrected. It enables us to understand our data sets a lot better."
"It saves time on a lot projects. "
"The product's Macros probably are one of the most useful aspects."
"It is efficient in optimizing our ability to get information."
"The design portion of this tool is easy to use without code, which his something that something we can appreciate."
"I believe that the ability to leverage the gallery for scalability, as well as the general data blending functionality, is most beneficial to our core-based users."
"The solution has a very strong community that is involved in the product. It helps make the usage easier and helps us find answers to our questions."
"Its initial setup is easy."
"We are able to work on the server, and I can copy a data set and share it with someone in my team. Similarly, if I want some data from them, I can get it. Being able to work on the server and being able to switch from one user to another is a good thing. It is reliable and powerful, and its community is very wide."
"Similar to Microsoft Access, you can drag and drop. You can simply drag and drop objects onto the page and create various flows to establish your query within the project. You can extract those queries from the preview as needed."
"Enabled us to remove PC SAS, which reduced risk."
"It has definitely improved our communication with senior management."
"It is also compatible with other softwares, such as Excel."
"Enterprise Guide is much better at generating reports than many solutions. We often use it to generate reports, and people interpret them how they like. They often probably use Excel spreadsheets or something like that after they get our data."
"Statistical functionality and basic database interaction can become very straightforward for business users that don't have a background in SQL and data analysis."
"The Query Builder is very valuable."
"The learning curve is long, and there is lack of e-learning; the tool is not user-friendly to a non-technical user."
"A colleague of mind mentioned that the solution should have more options for the visualization of data."
"There are a few hiccups with specific data sets and languages or formats that the data comes in. That may be a minor problem, but we can work through it. We had some issues looking at XML format in added data, but it wasn't significant."
"They can provide some pre-built tools for predictive analytics instead of us having to build all the tools. It should also be improved from the visualization aspect. It should have better visualization capabilities. There are tools out there that have better visualization capabilities, which Alteryx is lacking currently."
"I mostly used it for flat files, but I have many colleagues who reported that to tune a query, in case they want to directly connect to the database, there is no option to optimize the performance of the query, as we have in Informatica."
"Alteryx's predictive data models are pretty average and can be improved."
"The GUI interface functions but it could stand to be updated to a more modern look and feel."
"The only area where the product lags is documentation and videos on the analytical app and the batch macro."
"There needs to be a community of SAS Enterprise Guide users for assistance. For example, as they do for Python or SQL."
"The technical support response time has been consistently slow, and this has been a concern."
"I had difficulty with the diagrammatic flow chart style representation of projects. When projects got too large and complex (which was basically every project, except the most trivial). There just wasn't enough real estate to display the flow chart and dependencies without a lot of scrolling, even when a flow was down to minimum tasks. My recourse was making the flow less "atomic". E.g., rather than use the various subset, etc., tasks as program nodes to display the details, I would write chunks of code that did a few things and use them as SAS program nodes."
"I would like it to give more information rather than just a forever loop that forces you to shut down the system. Give you more error messages without stopping the entire project, or even the entire application. That it displays more error messages rather than terminating the application."
"Sentiment analytics would be a great feature to add into EG."
"The product is missing a visualization component so we have to use a separate tool for visualization."
"The stability is not very reliable."
"I feel that the performance could be increased by leveraging multi-thread with any SAS BI platform, not just the high performance ones."
