Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The tool is easy to use and deploy. It has PAM capabilities like privilege access. The solution helps with the management of third parties and vendors. It is an effective solution compared to other alternatives.""The solution's technical support is good.""The privileged access management into sensitive systems is very valuable. That includes control from the endpoint all the way through to the managing of passwords and credentials that are used by the person to access the sensitive information. It's very useful, because nobody ever really maintains passwords for those endpoint systems. It's maintained in the Dropbox password file.""BeyondTrust has very good integrations with quite a lot of security vendors such as SailPoint, IBM, FortiGuard, Splunk, etc.""I'm a BeyondTrust partner and I have multiple deployments, four or five banks right now. The features that give us quite an edge compared to what our competitors are offering - like IBM or Thycotic - are the Session Management, that is quite a big one; also the recording of keystrokes. In addition, there is the password vaulting and state-of-the-art Password Management, which I haven't seen in other products.""The features related to application elevate is amazing. It helped the company to remove almost all admin local users.""One of the valuable features is the absence of any local user in a unique system. All users are defined in the AD; communication is only between Unix and AD.""It scales easily and the product is stable."

"The most valuable feature is the user experience for managing information.""What I like about SAP Identity Management is that it's stable for experienced users and suitable for access management, not just for SAP accounts, but for Active Directory, including file sharing and process sharing.""The tool's most valuable features are its access control and approval of access requests. The self-service password reset feature is efficient. Role management capabilities streamline user access by assigning and revoking roles.""Rather than implement a basic SSO, this solution assisted us with setting up two-factor authentication.""What I found most valuable in SAP Identity Management is process automation. The solution also gives transparency about what is happening and why which I find beneficial. Another feature I found valuable in SAP Identity Management is integration. It has very good integration.""The setup process is straightforward.""It provides basic automatic user administration and role provisioning to save time.""What's most valuable in SAP Identity Management is that it's easily an out-of-the-box solution for connectivity with SAP applications. We do not have to do any customizations, and this makes the solution very compatible with most SAP applications. SAP Identity Management is also very user-friendly."

Cons
"It only has limited support for Mac.""The program updates are very rare and the frequency is too far apart to take care of bug fixes and adding the latest features.""The weaknesses are related to the effort required to migrate from existing technologies or having no Privilege Access Management (PAM) at all to adopting technologies like BeyondTrust. It involves changes in processes and can take a significant amount of time, typically six to twelve months.""The initial setup was very difficult. Even if you are an expert in EPM, it is still very difficult.""Reports to the end user.""It should support XWindows Remote Desktop Access protocol for Linux/Unix.""The other area to improve is that they rely on MS SQL servers only. You cannot have any other database behind them. They have to be on MS SQL. If they can do something about these issues, this would be a better alternative for some customers.""They need to come up with better integrative options which should be customer-centric."

More BeyondTrust Endpoint Privilege Management Cons →

"I have encountered issues with the host authentication feature.""It needs to have the SSO for the HANA modules that SAP is releasing.""I find SAP Identity Management complicated to use. Maintaining it is also complex.""A lack of startup connectors to different systems, and could have better connectors for SAP IDM.""What needs improvement in SAP Identity Management is its compatibility with third-party applications. We'd like to get connectors or plugin settings to make it easier to manage other applications, whether SAP or non SAP applications. As SAP Identity Management is not compatible with non SAP applications, some of the clients are looking for other IDM applications such as SalePoint and Saviynt, so this is an issue we've observed in the solution.""SAP Identity Management can improve risk analysis and authority checks.""Research and marketing need to be improved.""One of the areas for improvement in the solution is its user interface which needs to be up-to-date and fancier, in particular, have better visualization in terms of the tabs and buttons. The user interface of SAP Identity Management should be improved based on the latest trends."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'm sure everyone should have the cluster environment, which means more expensive, anyway, cheaper than the other solutions."
  • "PowerBroker for a Mac client is three times the price of the Windows version."
  • "What BeyondTrust was providing was user-based licensing which was a great benefit from the client point of view. Recently, I don't know why, the licensing model has been changed, and that is the reason that they have lost a bit of their edge when it comes to the PAM, against our competition. The asset-based licensing, from the user's point of view, is not beneficial. The licensing should be based on the users. The greater the number of users, the greater will be the load and the greater the scalability problems. I presume that is why the licensing model has changed."
  • "This solution is expensive compared to its competitors."
  • "Price-wise, it is very competitive. In our area, government entities and banks don't go for the monthly payment. It is a headache even for us in terms of finance and procurement to go for monthly payments. Quarterly might be more logical and reasonable, but the minimum that we go for is one year, and sometimes, we even try to compile and give one offering for three years."
  • "Its pricing and licensing are okay. We were in the perpetual model when it was on-prem, and now, with the SaaS service, we have a subscription model. As a customer, I would always like to see a lower price, but it seems to be priced at the right model currently, and we are trying to get the maximum benefits out of it."
  • "The product’s licensing is different for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The tool’s licensing is yearly."
  • "It was very expensive."

  • "When evaluating the price of any product, I first look at how it meets my business requirements and if it meets requirements adequately and predictively. Currently, I don't see this from SAP Identity Management, so pricing for it is expensive, in my opinion."
  • "The licensing cost varies depending on the specific requirements and deployment size."
  • "I rate the solution's pricing a four out of ten."
