We performed a comparison between Check Point NGFW and Huawei NGFW based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Firewalls solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The tool is a nice product and easy to handle. The software's user interface is also good. You can easily implement remote access in the solution."
"We've found the solution to be pretty stable."
"The most valuable feature is the interface, which is very user friendly. We are utilizing most of the features, like content filtering. The firewall is powerful."
"This solution has solid UTM features combined with a nice GUI."
"The most valuable features are the possibility of having one fabric for switching on security."
"Security solution with a straightforward and quick setup. It's a stable and scalable product."
"Fortinet FortiGate is easy to use. Anyone can easily maintain it."
"The GUI is good."
"The application authentication feature of Check Point is the most valuable as it helps us keep users secure."
"I rate the tool's stability a ten out of ten."
"On the firewall side, the security efficacy is good."
"The central management console has helped with segregation, where planned interventions with management consoles do not have any impact on production or critical business traffic."
"By deploying Check Point, it has made it easier to manage everything from a single interface. The management dashboard and policies are on its single pane of glass."
"One of the most valuable features is the data center object integration with Azure. We are using Azure a lot and there is very nice synchronization between the objects in Azure, and it's very easy to implement rules using this feature."
"Check Point has given us the ability to comply with regulations and with capacities in a way that we never could before."
"The Check Point appliances are considered NGFW devices and can process both the ASA and FTD requirements on a single instance, removing the requirement for an expansion SSD module and/or additional hardware."
"One of the best things about Huawei NGFW is its ability to integrate Azure solutions. Every year, we can add new features to the firewall. The key advantage is the integration across the entire network, so it doesn't work in isolation. For example, we can manage everything with features like the secret manager or analytic IDs. The solution is straightforward. It can also detect intrusions."
"The UI is quite good."
"The mapping features and traffic logging are good."
"We make use of the new data center, specifically the containerized data center which is built and reviewed by Huawei, including all the device's infrastructure."
"The solution's initial setup process is easy."
"The most useful feature is the performance of the firewalls and networking operations."
"I like that the initial setup is straighforward. It's also a scalable solution."
"The support for the solution has been excellent. If we ever had an issue they would send an engineer to help us with our problem."
"Fortinet FortiGate could improve by adding enhancements to FortiMail, FortiSOAR, and FortiDeceptor."
"It can be a little bit more user-friendly in terms of policy definition and implementation. It seems a little bit complicated, and it could be simplified."
"There are mainly two areas of improvement in Fortinet FortiGate— the licensing cost and the timing of upgrading licenses for boxes."
"I would like to see better pricing in the next release, as well as a simplification of the installation."
"I think that the infrastructure for the VPN could be improved. The way that it is bundled also made it difficult to use and sell as it is too expensive."
"I don't like that anything more than very basic reporting is not included."
"When we cluster the two Fortinet FortiGate boxes together we have some issues."
"It claims it does DLP, but the degree and level of controls are very basic."
"I would like there to be a way to run packets that capture more easily in the GUI environment. Right now, if we want to read packet captures, we have to do so from the command line."
"It requires enhanced automation tools for regulatory compliance to ease the burden of compliance reporting and auditing."
"There is nothing more that I need in terms of improvement."
"Technical support could be improved."
"It is a bit expensive according to the required blades but it is a platform that is worth having as security in a corporate."
"One of the most complicated aspects is the VPN Configuration, which should be simplified in future releases."
"We looked very closely at ArcSight's solution because it's a multi-vendor solution. With ArcSight we could have Check Point, we could have RSA, we could have any brand and integrate several brands, from a security point of view. With Check Point, you cannot do so, you can integrate with Check Point products."
"The API support is good. However, Check Point needs to focus on more prepared scripts for some tiresome actions."
"The solution could be cheaper."
"Wi-Fi scanning and Wi-Fi analysis would be useful features to include in the future."
"The solution could be more secure and have better integration."
"With the Huawei firewall, none of the features comes at the top. We found out later that customer support is really not good. For this firewall, because of our customers' routine, for example, every six months they'll do a penetration test to find weaknesses. So whenever they came up with VAPT reports, they are looking to Huawei for help. I think that's basically because it's a different culture. Chinese culture and our culture is different. They have always tried to help find some excuses or say some other things that cannot help you solve the problem immediately."
"The user interface could be more user-friendly."
"The IPS feature must be improved."
"The tool lacks features."
"The WAF capability in the Huawei Firewall is missing."
