Find out in this report how the two Firewalls solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Secure, user-friendly, stable, and scalable network security solution. Installation is straightforward."
"The CLI is robust and powerful, enabling rapid, consistent changes via SSH."
"It's quite comfortable to handle the FortiGate firewall."
"Customers want to load balance more than eight lines or six internet lines. FortiGate is the only solution that can accomplish this."
"This version is stable. I don't have any issues with this solution, in our environment, it works well."
"I like several features that this product has, such as antivirus and internet navigation inspection. It is also simple to use."
"Good load balancing feature."
"The wireless control is helpful."
"It is easy to deploy or upgrade. There is no need to do this manually with commands. This solution can be set up online."
"Check Point is more expensive but easier to manage, and their presales and after-sale support are way better than Fortinet's."
"The way in which a computer is immediately isolated if it starts behaving badly and I get a notification of an infected computer is also extremely nice and a great feature."
"The QoS blade is very good for controlling traffic such as Windows patches, mail traffic and other stuff."
"The management platform and the dashboard, the graphical user interface, is one of the best, if not the best, in the business. It's the most intuitive and it's really user-friendly in day-to-day operations."
"I love the redesigned interface starting with R80 as well as the ability for multiple engineers to work on the policy simultaneously."
"Check Point offers excellent security."
"The threat emulation blade and user identity awareness feature has helped us a lot in terms of perimeter security and have given us granular visibility of user access."
"The most valuable features are IPS, MAPI, NAT, and VPN."
"It is very easy to deploy and monitor. "
"The initial setup is very easy."
"Web filtering is very reliable."
"The interface is very good."
"The product is easy to implement."
"They have a command center that makes it easy to log into and see all of your appliances nationwide."
"None of my clients has had a ransom or breach using Untangle."
"The captive portal could be improved."
"Fortinet FortiGate could improve the user interface. There should be more functionality and options through the GUI."
"A sandbox would be good in order to be able to inspect the emails containing spam and be able to validate the emails that contain malware, prior to delivering to the customer."
"I would like Fortinet to add more automation to FortiGate."
"The support structure needs to be improved because every time we contact them, there is a delay in the response."
"The room for improvement is about the global delivery time period. Usually I need to wait for almost one month to deliver it overseas. So if you can shorten the deliver time it'd be great."
"Fortinet needs to overhaul its documentation."
"I feel that the reporting needs to be improved."
"When you want to open the gateway by double-clicking on the interface, sometimes it can cause silly problems such as freezing."
"The firewall can improved to make it more user-friendly."
"I hope for product simplification. It would be better to use one security console, instead of many of them (for licensing and monitoring). The solution is hard for newcomers and takes much time to deep in. Also, I want a historical graph for throughput and system resources usage. Maybe it will be great to make easy step-by-step installation and configuration cookbooks as Fortinet did, and integrate the documentation within the solution."
"Check Point NGFW Firewall requires frequent updates to build more user-friendly dashboards."
"The SmartUpdate interface is a little bit crowded if your company has a lot of software items."
"The setup is a little complex compared to its competitors."
"I would like the user interface to be more user-friendly. I want the UI to be easier to use than Check Point's competitors."
"The frequency of the antivirus updates which we get for Check Point firewalls should increase. They should be of good quality compared to the competitive firewalls on the market. They should give us stable antivirus signatures. That is an area in which they can improve."
"The product must improve its reporting features."
"The hardware can be improved."
"Whenever there are a large number of endpoint VPN clients, connectivity becomes slow."
"We have a minor issue when assigning IP addresses in the ARP tables. You should be able to go into the ARP tables, look at the IP address and say, "Nope, they need to be on this side on this IP address." The ability to set a DHP reservation from the ARP tables would be great. It's no big deal, but it would be nice to have."
"Web-filtering policies could be improved."
"The biggest challenge that we have with this solution is local support. The local support is a problem in our area."
"The pricing is not as good as it was some time ago. They've since skipped offering a lot of individual features."
"There is room for improvement in the logs. Like with Cisco, I can do almost everything and know almost anything about what's running. Untangle works very much out of the box. It's very user-friendly, but it's not engineer-friendly. So, it's good for a home user. For something fairly easy, but at the same time, with good technology to have at home, because at home, I'm not a millionaire or anything like that. So it's not like I'm worried to get hacked. I didn't want something like a Cisco firewall; it would be a bit overkill to have at home. So that's why I went for Untangle. But it lacks a few features. It's just a tick-box kind of thing. So they have apps and turn on and off the apps. The VPN's configuration is all very ticked. They have a few custom configurations, but it's not that much."
