We performed a comparison between Check Point NGFW and Zyxel Unified Security Gateway based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The feature I like most is the SD-WAN. It allows you to manage more than one ISP at the same time. And there is a high-availability mode, so if one of your ISPs is down, you still have a backup."
"Good load balancing feature."
"FortiGate is very simple to manage and easy to use."
"The product offers very good security."
"The performance is good."
"It is very flexible to use."
"The solution is scalable."
"The most valuable features are that it is very simple to configure and to manage."
"Its management web interface is very easy and user-friendly."
"Check Point firewalls have significantly improved our ability to detect and prevent threats."
"In R80.10 and above, you can view logs in SmartConsole. You don't have to open another smart tracker to view logs. That is the improvement Check Point has done which makes it better because it is much easier to find logs. This saves time, approximately 40 to 50 a day in one shift."
"The IPS protection is the most useful feature that I found from Check Point."
"Check Point has a centralized console that makes it possible to manage all the deployed equipment. It also has a built-in VPN service that lets users connect through VPN to our organization, which facilitates teleworking while cutting off unauthorized access to the organization's internal network."
"It is easy to control from the central management system. For example, if we have 10 firewalls, and we want to push that same configuration among them, we can use this solution's central management system to do that simultaneously. So, there is time saving in that way. The time savings does depend on the situation. For example, if I am running half an hour of work on each firewall, that will take around 300 minutes. However, if I do this work from the central management system, then it will only take 30 minutes to push the same configuration to those same 10 devices."
"Check Point definitely has a great architecture, where you can just enable the software blades and deploy a secure service. Overall, it provides ease of deployment and ease of use."
"It is easy to deploy or upgrade. There is no need to do this manually with commands. This solution can be set up online."
"The solution can scale well."
"This is a capable appliance and the standard features work well for us."
"The most valuable features of the solution stem from web filtering, malware protection, and antivirus."
"It could use better throughput on some of the smaller boxes for the branch offices."
"It would be good if they had fewer updates."
"The sniffing packets or packet captures, can be simplified and improved because it's a little confusing."
"In some cases, its initial setup could be hard for customers."
"The product does need better support in the cloud environment. It's not exactly cloud-native right now."
"The logs need to be better. They need to be more visible and easier to access."
"I would like Fortinet to add more automation to FortiGate."
"NGN, reporting and controls."
"Check Point NGFW could improve by introducing machine learning and more modeling dividing the way they manage the ports. However, they have evolved over the last year."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"The pricing could always be more competitive."
"One feature that could be improved is the internet object in the application control/URL filtering blade."
"The area where Check Point can improve is the antivirus, as it only provides a small number of updates for it. Updates should be more frequent."
"Finding support is a little bit hard."
"The command line is very difficult to use, which is one of the biggest drawbacks of this solution."
"Check Point NGFW Firewall requires frequent updates to build more user-friendly dashboards."
"Sometimes it reboots when you least expect it, and that's the main issue."
"The product has some scalability and data management issues where improvements are required."
"Although manageable, the user interface is a little bit slow and could be improved."
