We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We use remote access a lot. They are fairly simple to use.""We were running out of memory, and that was the first time we heard of a solution that supports a terabyte of core memory. That was the primary reason we got the first box. We've stayed with it since then because we have so many Dell workstations.""Dell PowerEdge servers are powerful. They don't break, and I love that. In my career of over 30 years now, all the Dell servers we've ever used out of the box have never broken.""The monitoring system is really helpful. I'm a one-man team, and I run systems and IT for a pretty big company. The ease of use of being able to flip through a browser tab was the most valuable feature for me.""We like their quality. I have also dealt with HPE and other manufacturers. In terms of service, Dell is optimal.""This solution has helped decrease production down time by 25%. The system management capabilities of PowerEdge has helped increase staff productivity by 25% and helped to reduce data processing time in our organization by 10%.""Their management tools are the most valuable. Our customers like the flexibility of being able to scale up and out. It is very easy for them to scale and add additional nodes and servers to their storage solutions, such as the ATI solution. It has very good quality and a great deployment model. Its warranty is also very good, and it is very stable. Their fixes have been quick if they have those.""The Xeon CPU makes the system work very well and fast. I like this type of CPU. It has helped to improve the performance of targeted workloads by 70%."

"Our customers are happy with many features in Oracle SPARC Servers, like the automatic ASR feature.""The Oracle server is very powerful. They are more powerful and durable compared to Intel hardware. Which has been a benefit to our organization.""The most valuable features of the solution stem from the fact that Oracle Database functions very well with Oracle SPARC Servers.""The operating system is rock solid and the best I have ever used.""The performance is the best feature.""The processor is very helpful and the licensing is very flexible.""I have found the LDAP facilities most valuable. In addition, I like the CPU."

Cons
"The price is acceptable but could be improved.""One of the things that I've noticed is that over time, the system degrades, meaning that little things don't work. For example, the hard drive would need to be replaced or iDRAC would not be functioning properly. We may have to flash the firmware. It is not like some other hardware where it just runs without issues for four or five years. With Dell, generally, there are little hiccups here and there.""As the disks and memory should be expandable, I would highlight scalability as an issue.""I don't know much about the new Intel CPUs, but they need to put more than two CPUs in the servers. It may be an Intel limitation, but I'm not sure.""Their support can be better. The speed of their support is not always great because the access to the data centers is sometimes complicated, so there is back and forth.""There is room for improvement in technical support.""After purchasing the product, customers have not been getting the support that they need in the early stages of getting set up. They can provide customers a little bit more education as to what they get with certain warranty levels. The data is there if the customers dig, but a lot of times, the customers don't dig. Some of the other server models come out a little bit quicker than Dell. It would be good if Dell is quicker to market on new, larger drives when they become available. Sometimes, we do get hit on that against a couple of competitors. Dell vets them a little bit longer than like the super micros to keep their stability and quality level up, but they lose a little bit of ground to a super micro. It would be good if they can release features and models as soon and as fast as they can. It would help them to stay more competitive.""In older models, for instance, Melanox adapters remain a necessity, and they have sporadically caused complications."

"They need some sort of modeling because IBM has different types of models.""I would like to see a reduced price point.""Oracle doesn't have a good roadmap for the solution because they are moving to the x86 platform.""They have declared the end of life of the hardware.""Like IBM, Oracle SPARC Servers should be able to run other open operating systems like Linux.""Oracle SPARC Servers should be fine-tuned well enough to work with the other servers and software products in the market, as it is an area where Oracle SPARC Servers lack.""The solution could improve by giving a clear roadmap about the future. I'm not seeing a lot of improvements on the OS side of the software. They need to work more on the operating system."
