Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of this solution is integration.""The solution is scalable.""The integration with AWS is a valuable feature.""The support is highly responsive.""The support team responds quickly.""Saves us a lot of space in the data center.""The program is stable.""The most valuable feature is high availability."

More Dell PowerFlex Pros →

"It has a nice, simple control panel. You can clearly see the state and health of storage along with the synchronization.""It has allowed me to effectively and confidently manage the maintenance of hosts where I can power off a host and have its VMs migrate to another one.""The most valuable feature for us is having the ability to configure our local storage using a limited number of disks and using the StarWind VSAN software to keep the cluster nodes in perfect sync.""In addition to the main functions of the software, I want to note the excellent work of technical support.""Their support staff is comprised of true experts who can also communicate clearly.""StarWind vSAN is easy to deploy and administer.""I like StarWind's high availability. The failover is almost immediate, so the end users have no idea the guest VM moved at all. We can failover all guest VMs onto a single hypervisor, place it into maintenance mode, install updates, and reboot a hypervisor all during the daytime and remotely, with confidence the process will be successful.""Ten gigabit Ethernet compatibility, support, ease of use, and management are some positive features."

Cons
"The storage capability must be improved.""We've had some issues around the licensing.""Needs some more monitoring tools.""It would be great to get earlier access to beta builds because we have to develop providers on our own. The APIs and enablers for custom automation could also be improved.""I think there might be some room for improvement when it comes to pricing, because although I know how to convert customers, at the end of day, it's quite expensive. Sometimes your feature architecture is still coming out much cheaper than hardware costs for your infrastructure.""The installation is complex.""The solution needs to offer more documentation and educational materials.""Licensing restrictions can be frustrating."

More Dell PowerFlex Cons →

"With data verification, I would like to know how does the solution perform validation of data being synced between two VSANs.""To enable the proactive support capability that is part of our support agreement, I would ask that the terms and conditions be revised and made acceptable to corporate security.""The logs can also become very noisy when there is an issue, which is very infrequent.""I would like additional documentation regarding possible networking configurations with 10GbE switching.""This is a great product.""I had to buy upgraded support, which was not a problem, but it wasn't a prorated amount, so I paid for the support, the full upgrade, but I only got a couple of months out of it because it was only good until renewal time.""I would like to see improvements in the documentation area.""I'd love to see native export of metrics (via Prometheus or something of that nature) to allow us to get more metrics available on our existing dashboard software."

  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."
