Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Analytics is the most valuable feature. The business service summaries in the dashboards and the correlations for the SIEM are also valuable features.""It is used as an alerting platform.""FortiSIEM's best features are the dashboards and customization.""The most valuable feature is the dashboard. CMDB database collects data from a lot of pre-configured devices.""Easy alert setup which enables different alerts in different categories.""The solution is easy to use and user-friendly.""The ability to write my own parsers for the devices that are not supported by Fortinet is the most valuable feature.""It's a very nice solution to work with."

"We haven't had any complaints about the stability of the solution or heard of any issues. None of our clients have mentioned running into bugs or glitches. There haven't been crashes.""Also, the ability to troubleshoot all the way across the NSX part of it to the physical and actually watch the packets go through and then see where the bottleneck is or where the interruption is. We run queries on the network flows within the application to find where they are in it and it graphically tells us how the packets are actually going through the system.""It allows us to go from virtual through NSX, up to the core, and see all of that in one pane of glass, it's pretty easy.""If we deploy NSX it shows us how the workflow will flow in the organization, what the roadblocks are, and what we need to do to overcome those hurdles. When we run this product, it gives us reports which describe problems with physical switches. We work with the network team to get them all resolved.""It provides deep visibility into what is happening with traffic and helps us manage our network.""Whenever we say "valuable" with respect to the network, it's more towards the security. The firewall rule issues it shows us and the recommendations that we get from vRNI are the most valuable features because they are actually making our network more secure.""The most valuable feature is being able to easily see the path that the VM traffic is taking, what ports are in use.""We can see everything going on in NSX and get a good picture of our environment."

Cons
"The graphs on the user interface could be improved as we often experience glitches.""It lacks a "wizard" that shows a particular user's activity or particular circumstance. I think the interface is intimidating because there's so much information there.""They need to integrate better with Cisco and Palo Alto.""FortiSIEM is not a market leader in the SIEM space.""It's difficult to integrate unsupported devices with FortiSIEM compared to QRadar. It's easier to integrate and develop processes in QRadar. It's harder to develop a custom process in FortiSIEM.""The solution's interface could be modernized and improved.""The backup and recovery process for this solution needs improvement.""The reporting feature is not very attractive for the upper management and I am not able to perform complex/nested queries."

More Fortinet FortiSIEM Cons →

"The only issue we have is that the solution does not always capture the host names.""The compatibility with each and every component of the infrastructure is the main thing that I am looking for. I would like them to make sure that it's compatible with different kinds of storage systems, etc. I have seen the compatibility list. I feel it can be more compatible than it is right now.""There are some random glitches in the Web UI, but they are usually pretty cosmetic in nature. I don't really seem to use any browser other than Chrome with it. I also get some weird errors from time to time on the hardware NetFlow Collectors, where it doesn't sync data.""The IT infrastructure industry is expected to evolve towards a hybrid cloud model in the next five to ten years. In this model, most of the customer's resources reside on-premise within a private cloud setup, such as VMware. Another segment operates within public cloud environments like Azure and AWS, and a portion remains in traditional data centers. There should be seamless interoperability between public and private clouds. AWS and VMware need to work together to make it possible. Whether users interact with on-premise infrastructure or configure resources in the public cloud, the user experience must be seamless.""I would like to see more interoperability on the firewall and low balancer sides.""I want to see more in terms of microsegmentation. As of now, I can see the rules, but they are not in a readable format that I can convert to microsegmentation and can fit into NSX Manager.""The solution can be improved by making it more compatible with other brands, allowing for better integration.""It just needs to be more reliable and more accurate. At some point, there are some things where it does not match properly."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Please be cheaper and more simplified."
  • "We bought the perpetual license, so we own the product, but there is a three-year support renewal fee for that."
  • "Pricing is acceptable for more than 90% of our customers, as they normally get discounts."
  • "Its price can be better. We are Fortinet partners, so we can get discounts, but its price can be an issue at the beginning for others. There is a licensing scheme for every case. There are three licensing schemes that we can choose from."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiSIEM is a lot less when compared to other solutions."
  • "They have a yearly subscription."
  • "The solution is available for both, perpetual and subscription licenses."
  • "Manageable, however would be better as pay as you go versus CapEX."

  • "The solution has helped us to reduce time, increase performance, reduce costs, and even easily manage networks. We are probably seeing 10 to 20 percent labor savings because we are able to be very specific and focused on what we want to do. It ends up saving the customer money and makes us be more efficient on our cost deliveries."
  • "It reduces costs. It takes something that may be challenging and makes it more usable and visual by being able to bring in tools, seeing what their impact is, such as microsegmentation and application rationalization, and seeing it quickly."
  • "Cost always has room for improvement, you could always make it cheaper. But I think it's a good value for what you pay for it."
  • "It's an expensive product because we have a lot of nodes."
  • "They should include the product in NSX because it's important to have it for deployment."
  • "The solution has reduced the time that we spend on other products. For example, with NSX, we were able to quickly find things that we would normally spend days trying to figure out."
  • "We have spent less time investigating network flows, so it is absolutely cost-effective."
  • "It has brought more money into our company."
