We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion.""The duplication algorithm allows us to get a lot more use out of less storage. We're running a five terabyte array right now and we're running probably about 30 terabytes on it. So the duplication rate is pretty phenomenal, without a cost to performance. It still runs pretty smoothly.""It has benefited my organization because it has reduced time to insights.""The most valuable features of this solution are its ease of use and performance.""The system allows for seamless learning experiences, facilitating quick and easy cloning of environments within minutes.""Technical support has been helpful and responsive.""Overall stability is very good. It is a very stable solution.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use."

"The tool's notable feature is that we don't need to log a case directly with the vendor. The tool has access to all the logs on-premises. This is an on-premises solution. Additionally, we can provision data as thick or thin provisioned. Moreover, it includes data grid duplication and compression features.""It offers rich features and high speed for transferring data."

More HPE Alletra Pros →

"HPE provides good support through their customer service.""The most valuable feature of HPE Primera is its performance and simple replication.""The interface is simplified.""HPE Primera is scalable.""It serves as the primary storage in my production environment.""There has been a lot of changes in HPE Primera OS, and most of the time any package related to it is simple to upgrade. It does not require any support for the operation. The customer can easily deploy any code directly from the GUI which is very good. Additionally, we have individual storage we can allocate and easily manage.""Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""The most important thing that we had found when we purchased this product around six months back was its 100% availability and uptime."

Cons
"If the customer only needs 500 terabytes and doesn't care how much data they'll put in the server, IBM is cheaper than Pure.""The UI for this solution needs to be improved.""You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me.""It's more multi-tenant functionality in their Pure1 manage portal that is lacking.""The tool's pricing is higher than competitors.""In the future, I would like to see integration with enterprise backup systems.""We would like to see more visibility into garbage collection and CPU performance in the GUI.""We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"It would be better if there were an option to incorporate the NVMe feature alongside other storage tiers. Currently, the system operates on Autotier but can manually peer and mix different types of drives, such as SAS and SATA drives.""We had some issues while installing it on our servers. It required more resources while cross-checking. So, the initial setup process could be better."

More HPE Alletra Cons →

"Price is always important in Turkey, so HPE could lower the price to keep it competitive. It's not as competitive as other solutions in this market.""We cannot use this storage for critical applications and data.""This solution would be expensive for small business and it could be priced more competitively for that market.""On the hardware side, you should have the ability to expand capacity to larger numbers.""There really isn't any aspect of the solution that needs improvement for the customer other than its price.""HPE Primera's deduplication area is not as good as the one offered by Dell PowerStore, making it an area where improvements are required.""The product's stale snapshots feature needs improvement.""They could work to make scalability easier."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The solution is expensive and can cost around five lakhs."
  • "There is a license. HPE Alletra uses a cloud-based model."

  • "The price of this solution is good for medium-sized and large businesses."
  • "From what I see, this is competitively-priced and HPE are doing their best to stay competitive."
  • "The price to capacity ratio is good."
  • "It is basically in the mid-range of the price. It is not cheaper than Hitachi, but it is cheaper than Pure Storage. There are no additional costs. Everything was taken care of in the price."
  • "Licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis and the cost of GreenLake service is included."
  • "I believe HPE Primera and Pure Storage are similar in price."
  • "There is only a one-time license purchase needed and no additional costs. If HP could reduce the training cost, then that would be advantageous to the seller."
  • "The price of HPE Primera could improve, it is expensive."
