Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The Cloud Console for monitoring and troubleshooting data operations.""The fluid user interface (probably the most user friendly interface, when compared to its competitors).""It is a scalable solution.""It runs like an appliance and has tremendous throughput.""Integrity, ease of use, user-friendly user interface, and errorless logs are the most valuable features.""Jitterbit provides the ability to quickly map data between files and databases.""Easy integration with Salesforce""Jitterbit handles the most lines of data in a .csv and loads the quickest of any data loader I have tried."

"Talend Studio has the ability to use it to ensure data quality.""The main differentiator that I have seen between Talend and other data integration tools is the ability to view the data pipeline in the form of a program.""We're sold on the customization part of the solution.""The rapidity of integration with data may be one of the valuable features.""The API integration and big data approach are very good because of how you extract data from JSP files or big data web repositories like MongoDB.""The best thing I have found with Talend Open Studio is their major support for the lookups.""You can use Talend as a stand-alone application without customization to collect data and generate reports over dashboards. It's got great functionality.""The most valuable features of Talend Open Studio are customization and integration."

Cons
"There were some bugs in the product. For example if you run a delete query and test, it deletes the actual data.""Sometimes we experience disconnections and I have to close all Jitterbit programs.""Sometimes additional connectors are needed.""In the past few months, there have been some server downtimes during work hours that have affected some critical scheduled integrations.""I know with Salesforce updating the UI like they did, it slowed it down a lot.""I would like the ability to offer a dedicated cloud version for security.""The initial setup can be a little bit difficult.""You need to have some development skills or hire a Jitterbit engineer to make changes."

More Jitterbit Harmony Cons →

"Talend Open Studio is in Java language, and right now, you can only use the debug functionality in Java. I see that people who know programming languages other than Java currently face difficulties.""The technical support and documentation need a lot of work to come up to standard.""Technical support and customer service need to be improved.""The solution needs more integrations.""The only other thing is that you have to integrate into an API gateway. We're in Azure, so we use Microsoft Azure Gateway. It doesn't come with its own gateway, which is another sort of big plus side that we saw in Boomi. Talend isn't quite there yet with the API gateway.""It doesn't have the ability to keep the repository of the source code (visual pipeline). It can be integrated with Git.""The documentation is lacking within the product. They need to get better at all aspects of describing how it works and how to use it.""The high price of the solution is an area of concern where improvements are required."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Talend Open Studio solution.

Elio B., Data Integration Specialist/CTO at Asset messages, says, "The solution has a good balance between automated items and the ability for a developer to integrate and extend what he needs. Other competing tools do not offer the same grade of flexibility when you need to go beyond what is provided by the tool. Talend, on the other hand, allows you to expand very easily."

A Practice Head, Analytics at a tech services company mentions, “The data integration aspect of the solution is excellent. The product's data preparation features are very good. There's very useful data stewardship within the product. From a technical standpoint, the solution itself is pretty good. There are very good pre-built connectors in Talend, which is good for many clients or businesses, as, in most cases, companies are dealing with multiple data sources from multiple technologies. That is where a tool like Talend is extremely helpful.”

Prerna T., Senior System Executive at a tech services company, comments, “The best thing I have found with Talend Open Studio is their major support for the lookups. With Salesforce, when we want to relate our child objects to their parent object, we need to create them via IDs. Then the upsert operation, which will allow you to relate a child object to the event, will have an external ID. That is the best thing which keeps it very sorted. I like that.”

An Implementation Specialist, Individual Contributor at a computer software company, states, “I can connect with different databases such as Oracle Database or SQL Server. It allows you to extract the data from one database to another. I can structure the data by filtering and mapping the fields.” He also adds, “It is very user-friendly. You need to know the basics of SQL development or SQL queries, and you can use this tool.”

PeerSpot user Badrakh V., Information System Architect at Astvision, explains, "The most valuable features are the ETL tools."
