We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Provides good data flow related to the container and control flow.""In contrast to what we were using before I think that Power BI has given us more extensive results.""One of the most valuable aspects of this tool is its ease of use and the ability to easily share information with others.""Microsoft BI's dashboards are helpful.""Its visualizations and dashboards are most valuable. Power BI is great in terms of visualizations and dashboards. The reports that we previously had were not very nice in terms of visualization. It also provides the ability to play with the data.""There was a lot of manual work involved with Excel, whereas once we moved on to Microsoft Power BI, it was a cleaner dashboard and it was faster too.""I like having the ability to connect Excel files as data inputs.""Microsoft BI's most valuable features are the user interface, which is easy to use and light."

"The solution is scalable.""The solution is stable and reliable.""The solution can handle a large volume of data.""It helps us fetch specific data sets per users' requirements.""I have found the most valuable aspect is the user-friendly environment and current features.""It is very fast compared to other normal databases, like SQL and MySQL.""It's a very powerful analytical engine with Essbase as the back end. We can analyze, transform, or utilize a big chunk of data for our calculations.""Unlike relational, where you're linking together multiple tables, with Essbase, you basically define what the dimensions are beforehand, and you define the hierarchy, and then load the data. This allows you to do a pretty sophisticated analysis so that you can drill into it and slice and dice the data."

Cons
"I have found using Microsoft BI is not easy. For example, trying to use the auto-refresh feature is not simple.""Microsoft Power BI was born native on the cloud, however, it's quite difficult when it has to connect to on-premise data sources.""This solution is resource-heavy.""If you have to pull multiple data sources performance is somewhat lacking.""Microsoft BI comes under pressure when there is a lot of data to be crunched. It gets slower and slower, and the functionality becomes a bit of a problem. The performance goes down with data being fed into the system. The infrastructure requirement also increases if you have to increase the performance. This is the area that can be improved in my opinion. Initially, the product is good, but over the years, when data gets accumulated, it becomes a problem unless the old data is kind of archived and is no longer shown on the visualization. It has a feature by using which a user can query for a report through simple questions to a bot. So, if I want to look for the customer share of revenue by geography, I just simply state that in the chatbot. If I wanted it in a pie chart, then you say, "Please show it to me in a pie chart." It comes out well for basic charts. This feature should be improvised more so that people can very quickly get customized reports on the go.""Right now, their premium pricing is keeping us out of the premium market. The premium price per user just doesn't make sense for us, but we haven't reached the limit of 500 users to justify the premium.""I think that they can add more types of charts because the selection on the desktop version is limited.""I find the solution to be 70 percent stable."

More Microsoft Power BI Cons →

"I would like to see an integration with application performance management and a version control management tool.""It's an expensive product to use.""The consolidation engine, which is HFM or FCCS, needs some room for improvement.""They should improve the solution's performance.""Essbase has a programming language, and it has a couple of functions to do forecasting, however, their feature set for that is not that good.""The reporting tool of Essbase needs improvement.""The initial setup could be simplified.""There is room for improvement in terms of cost-effectiveness."
