Comparison Results: Oracle Exadata is the winner in this comparison due to its scaling abilities. Oracle Database Appliance does come out on top in the Ease of Deployment category, however.
"Easy management (it saves a lot of installation and patching time)."
"The solution is stable. The product is scalable. The technical support is very helpful. The initial setup is straightforward. I consider the product a strong solution for our customers."
"The tool is a specific and effective system. I am impressed with its usability."
"The solution is pretty automated, which takes out the possibility of human error."
"The most valuable feature is the performance."
"The performance of the system is the solution's most valuable aspect. In combination with the database, it gives perfect results. It's a better system than using other kinds of integrated systems. In general, the ODA control is much simpler to use and offers up the best performance."
"The Oracle database is able to get the data, process it, and return it to the company's CEO's and CFO's within a single day, and thus they are able to find out yesterday's P and L by today. It has drastically reduced the amount and time of processing from seven days to one day."
"The database is solid."
"The ease of setup is an eight out of ten."
"Oracle has reliable solutions and this one is no different."
"The offloading of data to the SIM is a valuable feature."
"What I found most valuable in Oracle Exadata is its newer technology that gives better performance. It has more recent hardware and significant changes in the architecture, so it's better than older solutions."
"Before using this machine, we took no less than two days to run a report. Now, we can do it within five hours. So, there is a lot of improvement."
"We have used this solution for a long period of time so it has become easy for us to query any kind of data from Oracle Exadata which has been valuable."
"Backup/Restore performance: Fast backups, fast restores (especially useful for creating clone environments)."
"A very stable solution, which we have hardly any problems with."
"The product's pricing is too high. We plan to migrate to another database in three to four years."
"I would like it if the scalability could be increased without having to change versions."
"Even though the solution can handle a lot of data, it's just too expensive currently."
"The product is quite complex to set up, initially. It would be ideal if it was simpler."
"Oracle Database Appliance is stopping support for the standard edition and only continuing support for the RAC One Node. They did not inform us and we are having problems with our customers. We are not having to change our systems from standard to something else."
"Virtualization needs improvement. It's not easy to back up the virtual machines in the Oracle VM architecture. I would also like to see native support for Veeam Backup Software."
"The license cost could be cheaper, especially for long-term contracts."
"The feature that I would like to see improve is the interface. It is really not good. I almost have to work on script by script in it. There is always some issue with the user interface."
"We have experienced some issues with processing unstructured data on Exadata. This is an important requirement for our AIML based use case. Reactive analytics data can not be prepared easily in Oracle Exadata."
"I believe Oracle must improve its procedure to support the clients. The customer Ready Service must provide more use cases and benchmarks of their infrastructure to support client design decisions. Oracle must audit their partners regularly to guarantee they provide quality service even after been passed on partnership examination."
"The management monitoring tools are quite important and an area that needs some improvement."
"There is room for improvement with the handling of the Temp IO, which is often used for JOIN statements."
"We had issues with system restoration."
"Exadata would be improved with single dashboard visibility."
"Oracle Exadata could improve the platform performance tuning should be easier, automated, and user-friendly."
"The solution takes a lot of time to clone the environment. I would like to see some improvement in the cloning support or the time it takes on the storage side."
