We performed a comparison between RHEV and VMware VSphere based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Based on the parameters we compared, VMware VSphere got better user reviews. One major difference between the two solutions is that users say that RHEV’s scalability is not great.
"The price is the solution's most valuable aspect. It's much cheaper than, for example, VMware."
"I can control and manage everything. I know everything that's cooking inside. This is the best part for me."
"The solution is a great all-round product. The virtualization is especially good."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"It is a scalable solution."
"Technically, the main reason why I'm using Red Hat is because of its stability."
"It's a scalable solution."
"This solution is very stable. Much more so than similar products."
"I don't see any challenges in using this product."
"Using vSphere we have virtualized over one thousand servers and this gave us management, cost and datacenter space advantages."
"This product is useful for running multiple virtual machines from a single server so that people can utilize the hardware resources in their organization. Its ability for backups is also valuable. In case of a disaster, you can recover the entire server from the images. It is easy to use. In terms of features, whatever they are providing is more than sufficient for us. We are not exploiting this product up to a hundred percent."
"The redundancy, the failover, the ability to stay up and running 24/7, all the various tools that are in there, high-availability, DRS, are very critical to us."
"It makes managing your virtual servers easier and more centralized."
"The solution is easy to use, user-friendly interface and has high availability features. When comparing it to other solutions it is more robust."
"We have seen an improvement in uptime. The whole hardware lifecycle process is easier."
"We are able to increase the density of the virtualized servers and, with the increased density we have a lot of page sharing as well as memory sharing."
"The availability of technical expertise with the solution may be limited in some areas."
"When we do a direct comparison, then obviously VMware does better in terms of having Fault Tolerance and doing active disaster recovery and these kind of things. This is something that can be improved within Red Hat."
"The solution could use network virtualization."
"Customers are not aware of this solution, they can improve by providing more awareness and solution availability."
"It would be better to have more patches, especially kernel-level updates, live and online so that we can keep the business up and running during this period."
"With RHEV, the cyberattacks should be fewer. I want RHEV to be better protected."
"The solution has a very small lifecycle."
"Configuring the network interfaces is much better in Ubuntu and should be improved."
"It would be highly beneficial for VMware to collaborate with local hosts and partners in countries like those in Africa to establish specific pricing that would align with the economic conditions of countries in Africa, ensuring suitability and compatibility with our consumption capabilities."
"In addition, I think some of the backup features or the prediction features can be improved."
"I'm using vSphere at a high level. Sometimes, I find it challenging to integrate different networks, but I think it's just my lack of knowledge."
"The Web Client is too slow."
"The price could be better. The licensing is definitely expensive and tech support is sometimes frustrating."
"It is expensive. They can improve the licensing cost for Cloud Director. They can also improve the integration with other applications and the metering feature, which is currently not flexible."
"The solution is stable. However, it could improve by being more secure."
"The solution is quite expensive."
