We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"User friendly interface and straight forward implementation.""The solution provides great performance for the price it is listed with.""It has given the company an almost zero possibility of downtime.""With an uptime of 384 days, StarWind has improved overall server reliability.""Besides being 80% cheaper than the other alternatives, the simplicity makes reconfiguration and support much easier.""The most valuable features are high availability and real-time replication between two servers.""Training is also easy as it is just one system to learn.""This solution enables us to make better cost-effective use of our existing hardware and leverage the current infrastructure at a higher level than we could before."

"Nimble Storage is a capable platform with high availability.""Nimble is easy to use, but hard to install. Once it's installed, it's user-friendly. Reporting is another advantage because we get a lot of statistical forecasting. It helps us see into the future with that.""We have the ability to increase the storage without any additional costs.""I love InfoSite. That gets you a lot of good detailed information.""The latency is very low.""Artificial intelligence is built into the product. If there's a failure, HP support will proactively call the client about the issue.""It is easier to manage compared to the other vendors.""HPE Nimble Storage dHCI has the most valuable features for performance, resilience, and scalability."

"The stability continues to get better and better. It's pretty reliable.""The technical support is very helpful and answers questions whenever we have issues with the product.""VxRail alleviates the operational constraints within an organization.""When we have a resource contention, we can easily increase the capacity.""There are so many features, but if I have to choose, I would go for scale-out upgrades and performance. Scale-out upgrades are very valuable. Typically, when customers engage in virtualization, they're committing themselves to run many virtual machines on a fewer number of hosts. They'll have five or six hosts, and they will run all their virtualization on vSphere. They could be having anywhere from 50 to 100 or even more virtual machines. Once all these go into production, getting downtime or getting planned maintenance windows is extremely difficult. It is something that typically businesses will frown upon. With VxRail, you can just go ahead and add a node without disrupting the existing environment, which works very well. That's why scale-out upgrades are a key feature. Its performance is also valuable. It delivers a very high number of IOPS for a hybrid configuration or an all-flash configuration. The processors that are available in the Xeon family are very powerful. They are multi-core with typically 2 gigahertz, 2.4 gigahertz, or higher frequency, so the performance is very much appreciated.""The low latency and response times and having a virtualized environment within a single computer are valuable. I have no physical elements, and I can optimize or balance my data depending on the sales volume that I have in a specific store.""For me, the most valuable feature is in relation to the software updates.""Cost-effective and easy to install."

Cons
"Perhaps more reporting features on the utilization, usage, and performance of the configured high-availability images and underlying physical disks would be helpful.""While StarWind.com excels in numerous areas, there are a couple of notable functionalities that it currently lacks. One of these is duplication, which could be an invaluable feature for data redundancy and backup purposes. The ability to duplicate data across different storage locations can be crucial for safeguarding against data loss, and its absence is a minor limitation in an otherwise stellar offering.""For me, the product could be improved by it being made cheaper.""The management console of StarWind Virtual SAN is pretty complex.""I had to buy upgraded support, which was not a problem, but it wasn't a prorated amount, so I paid for the support, the full upgrade, but I only got a couple of months out of it because it was only good until renewal time.""Pricing is a bit high.""The only point they should improve is the amount of documentation available for the user, especially in the first preliminary phase in which we were testing the product on our own.""The platform needs to improve user management and the web console."

More StarWind Virtual SAN Cons →

"They should improve just the support.""The product is expensive.""The initial setup is a little bit complicated.""The product does not support file services.""The performance of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI could improve. Other solutions, such as Cisco, are better.""Companies in small countries face problems with spare parts.""Cost-wise, this solution is slightly more expensive than other hyperconverged solutions.""HPE Nimble Storage dHCI currently is promoting only VMware as a hypervisor, whereas if they can look into other OSs, such as KVM or Red Hat, it would be an improvement."

More HPE Alletra dHCI Cons →

"It could be improved by having more information on the integration portion of ACI.""The solution should facilitate the separate expansion of computing and storage.""At present, VxRail is a hyperconverged state of the art product being installed in a legacy way. We need hyperconverged install teams.""VxRail should try to improve the pricing.""We spend around six months waiting for a confirmation and firmware upgrade to confirm this step.""In the version that I was working with, the integrations are in need of improvement.""If we could have some out of the box ideas in integration, I think that would be a great feature.""The version upgrade process should be simplified."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The setup cost is very low. The pricing is great."
  • "We are happy with the price."
  • "The license is reusable. We can always rebuild it and apply the license. Then, boom, we get new servers, apply the license, and we're back up and running."
  • "The pricing is fine for the work that it does."
  • "When we did all the analysis for StarWind, it was approximately 20 percent less than any of the other solutions that we looked at."
  • "The scalability limitation for us is its licensing. At some point in the fairly near future, we will probably have to upgrade our license so we can store eight terabytes instead of four. We are currently at four terabytes, but we're starting to knock on the door of that capacity."
  • "The pricing is excellent. It will run on anything. You don't have to buy a $100,000 server, with hardware you don't need. You just pay for the license and you're good to go."
  • "The licensing is a bit weird. If you license the standard version of StarWind, it allows you four terabytes. Then, they have a pro version, but with the pro version, the only difference is it doubles the terabytes to eight."

  • "I think it's priced right and it's extremely intelligent."
  • "The customers have found the solution to be expensive. However, when compared to the competition the price is reasonable."
  • "The cost of the licensing is reasonable."
  • "The price of HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is expensive."
  • "HPE Nimble Storage dHCI is much cheaper than the competition and has value proposition. Customers can see an ROI in three months. There are no additional costs, and VMware licenses can be reutilized."
  • "With the features that HPE Nimble Storage dHCI provides, I cannot say its pricing is more."
  • "The product is very affordable."
  • "I would rate the licensing model a three out of ten, where one is extremely expensive, and ten is cheap."
  • More HPE Alletra dHCI Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "There is a permanent vSAN license included since it is required, but vCenter\ESXi host licensing should be validated in the purchase process."
  • "Most of hyper-converged solutions require additional licenses for the virtualization layer (like VMware)."
  • "Be mindful of your storage needs now and for the future."
  • "Compare the VxRail product to Nutanix. Nutanix has more features, but its pricing is higher."
  • "Compare it to what you spent on your last solution."
  • "We most likely pay yearly for support. The cost was justified by now because it stays up and I don't have to constantly open tickets. I probably rebooted the system once or twice. We haven't replaced any discs in the storage, we haven't had to do any disc replacements, so it just runs. You pay a little more but you cut down on the maintenance."
  • "The price is a little bit on the higher side but the system and management are so quick and easy that it's worth it for the customer."
  • "We were expecting Dell EMC to bring us something that would work very quickly and easily, but also be at a reasonable price point, and they did."
