We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Perfect for someone who doesn't want to waste time.""This product has helped to centralize backups and made it easy to recover data.""The interface is basic and very easy to use which is what we are looking for.""Nakivo Backup and Replication's web-based management interface enables intuitive, rapid, and seamless configuration and management of all backup and recovery functionality across the enterprise.""It is fast, simple, powerful, and has a price without competition.""We are able to take backups on a regular interval and restore data/VMs as we choose making the process work as advertised.""The features that I have found most valuable are that it is a cheaper price and user-friendly.""This product has a very clean and intuitive GUI."

"We are happy with Veritas Backup Exec's stability.""The most important feature is the variety of backup applications it supports, including ERP systems and most other programs, such as Microsoft.""Setting up Backup Exec is straightforward. It took less than two weeks to get it up and running. You need maybe two people at most if you have a Veritas-certified engineer.""The solution is stable.""It's quite stable, and so far, we have had no technical issues with Veritas Backup Exec.""The dashboard was good. I loved to see the maintenance dashboard every time I logged on. That was my first screen because it always gave me a reminder of how many days before my next renewal.""The solution is good for small and medium-sized businesses.""We have virtual infrastructure, so restoring virtual machine systems from backups is also very easy."

Cons
"One complaint I have is the dashboard flashing as it reloads/refreshes itself. The program was not always like that and it happened after an update at some point.""Sometimes, for some VMs and some Windows Server versions, specifically old versions (aka server 12 or older) fail due to the VSS writer error or locking file system.""So far, there is no version that supports Polish. If such a version existed, many customers in our region would decide to purchase and implement this solution.""The way encryption is currently working could be improved. Currently, it's not possible to encrypt the backup to an NFS share directly. It needs to have the encryption within the Transporter/VM to enable encryption, which isn't optimal. So I'm hoping that in the near future this function will be implemented.""More statistic options would be a great feature.""The only thing we have encountered that we would like to see improved in the future are error messages. They could be more detailed and helpful, without the need to send logs to support. Failing that, the part of the log related to the error could be displayed alongside the error message, so I can investigate the error without looking through all of those logs that I'm able to download.""One of the things I liked least about this software is when an update was pushed to one of the servers we had, somehow we didn't receive the update and needed some quick troubleshooting.""Implementing more comprehensive data deduplication and compression techniques could optimize storage utilization and reduce backup times, improving overall efficiency."

"They can work on the issue of the job timing out when it is unable to reach a selection item. It sometimes hangs up on the selection item, thus preventing the job from continuing.""The initial installation needs some effort.""The pricing could be improved.""It could provide better ease of management than one of its competitors.""They could include backup functionality for enterprise environments.""The reports could be made in an easier way.""It would be nice to improve the backup acceleration and the fast restoration required.""It could be improved in the area of reporting and ease-of-use."

      Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Veritas Backup Exec users.

An IT Network Analyst at a manufacturing company says, “The backup potential of the solution is very good. It's protected us in the past very well and allowed us to get up and running after an attack with minimal loss. As far as if we need to restore a file, the solution absolutely has improved the way our organization functions. It saves us a lot of time. We're backing up all of our servers with it.”

PeerSpot user Masoud G., Senior Network Administrator at MapnaBE, mentions, “I prefer to use a tape library and Veritas Backup Exec is fully compatible with different tape libraries. So I prefer this software. It also has easy user and file recovery.”

Kayode O., Chief Technology Officer at a tech company, explains, “This solution creates a differential backup to reduce storage requirements. This solution is not complex and you do not have to be too technical to use it. Veritas offers granular restore, which is an option that many other solutions do not have. It allows you to restore, for example, a single SharePoint document, rather than an entire site.”

Rowland G., Product Brand Manager at Epsidon Technology Distribution, states, “The one thing for the last 12 months which has been very good for Veritas was the instance-based license. This means that you're able to license per instance, not only per physical server. And also, the incremental backup which they introduced for virtual servers, where it makes it much quicker to restore, it just automatically is able to mount it back to the original backup. This makes it much quicker when you're doing the restore.”
