We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The visibility into threats is also very impressive because Microsoft helps you predict things and provides analytics to help you really improve your security. And all of this technology works across the domain, so it is pretty helpful in terms of threat analytics.""I have found the ability to delete unwanted threats beneficial.""A crucial aspect for our team is the inclusion of identity and access management tools from the vendor.""Advanced hunting is good. I like that. We can drill down to lots of details.""The most valuable feature of all is the full integration with the rest of the software in the operating system and Office 365, as well as Microsoft SCCM. It is quite easy for us to work with the whole instance of Microsoft products. This integration improves the benefits of the whole suite of products.""Microsoft Defender's most critical component is its CASB solution. It has many built-in policies that can improve your organization's cloud security posture. It's effective regardless of where your users are, which is critical because most users are working from home. It's cloud-based, so nothing is on-premise.""Within advanced threat hunting, the tables that have already been defined by Microsoft are helpful. In the advanced threat hunting tab, there were different tables, and one of the tables was related to device info, device alert, and device events. That was very helpful. Another feature that I liked but didn't have access to was deep analysis.""Many people don't realize that Microsoft Azure, Exchange Online, and the security and compliance portal all sync together. For instance, within the Azure portal you can set security restrictions and policies to help secure your tenants... The good part of it is that these products have already been integrated. When you sign on as an admin you have global admin rights and that gives you access to all these features."

"In addition to managing the SOC, they offer Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) capabilities for servers and systems. What stood out for us is the product's lightweight nature, unlike other EDRs we evaluated that tend to be system-intensive. This lightweight feature significantly piqued our interest and influenced our decision to use the solution. The solution is stable. I rate it a seven out of ten. The solution is scalable. I rate it an eight out of ten. The support team is remarkably prompt. They quickly resolve any issues we encounter. The initial setup was straightforward. With strong timings and BSLAs, AgileBlie stands out when compared to competitors."

"The best feature of SentinelOne Singularity Complete is that you don't need to configure a lot with it because it provides an unmatched layer of protection out of the box.""It is easy to collect and retain logs with SentinelOne.""In the past, we were not able to identify a few viruses, but now we are able to identify them because of the machine learning feature.""The external drive scanning is great.""SentinelOne also provides equal protection across Windows, Linux, and macOS. I have all of them and every flavor of them you could possibly imagine. They've done a great job because I still have a lot of legacy infrastructure to support. It can support legacy environments as well as newer environments, including all the latest OS's... There are cost savings not only on licensing but because I don't have to have different people managing different consoles.""We collect a lot of telemetry from Singularity Complete.""I have found the activity timeline and threat analysis to be particularly useful.""The reporting part is awesome."

Cons
"The interface could be improved. For example, if you want to do a phishing simulation for your employees, it can take a while to figure out what to do. The interface is a bit messy and could be updated. It isn't too bad, but doing some things can be a long process.""The licensing is a nightmare and has room for improvement.""Microsoft 365 Defender does not have a unique package with emerging endpoint security technologies, such as EDR and XDR.""The cost can be high if you want to build custom license packages. Another area for improvement is the policies. In Azure, we need to implement policies in JSON format, but in 365 Defender 365, it would be helpful to use a different format so we can customize the platform.""It would be beneficial to have a more seamless experience with everything consolidated in one place, particularly when dealing with aspects related to the Exchange console.""The only issue I've had is, when it comes to deployment, the steps I must take around policy setup. That is challenging.""One of the biggest downsides of Microsoft products, in general, is that the menus are often difficult to find, as they tend to move from place to place between versions.""Generally, antivirus products provide a central control to manage every device in terms of who is installing it or who is trying to disable it, but Microsoft doesn't have such a control center for the antivirus product it provides."

More Microsoft Defender XDR Cons →

"There is always room for improvement. There's potential for further enhancement in the capabilities of the EDR. However, there are positive changes we are satisfied with. They revamped the dashboard, addressing a previous issue."

More AgileBlue Cons →

"The improvement could be in terms of reducing more noise and continuing to cut that down. AI seems to be the big thing with Purple. We are excited to get our hands on that.""We have had one or two occasions when we had to roll back off our Windows machine. Then, we had an issue with SentinelOne where we couldn't let the client make contact with the cloud service anymore. Therefore, the integration with the Windows Service Recovery could be improved in the future.""The solution can use up a lot of resources when scanning. It would be ideal if it was lighter.""The solution can improve by adding more granular firewall capabilities.""The adware and pop-up blockers have room for improvement.""One of the areas which would benefit from being improved is the policies. There are still software programs where we need to manually program in the policies to tell the system, "This program is legitimate." Some level of AI-based automation in creating those policies would go a long way in improving the amount of time it takes to deploy the system.""The management console.""This solution would be more attractive to customers if the price were lower."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solutions price is fair for what they offer."
  • "The price could be better. Normally, the costs depend on the country you're located in for the license. When we were in the initial stage, we went with the E5 license they call premium standard. It cost us around $5.20 per month for four users."
  • "The price of the solution is high compared to others and we have lost some customers because of it."
  • "Microsoft is not competitive with the pricing of the solution. The competitors are able to offer lower discounts. The price of the solution is higher."
  • "We have a lot of problems in Latin America regarding the price of Microsoft 365 Defender, because the relationship between dollars and the money of the different countries, it's is a lot. Many customers that have small businesses say that they would like the solution but it is too expensive. However, large companies do not find the cost an issue."
  • "The most valuable licensing option is expensive, so pricing could be improved. Licensing options for this solution also need to be consolidated, because they frequently change."
  • "Microsoft should provide lower-level licensing options. They should do it in such a way that even an individual could purchase a license, and it should be entirely flexible."
  • "They have moved from a licensing model to pay-per-use... The question is: What happens if, for any reason, there's not enough budget to accept this model? That could be a great problem."

  • "The solution’s pricing is reasonable. There are no hidden costs or additional fees involved."

  • "The price is competitive, if you compare it with other solutions on the market."
  • "Spend money on the security for the endpoint."
  • "The price for it is very competitive compared to other Next Gen EPP."
  • "The per-seat cost is low, but you have to commit to a certain number of licenses for a year."
  • "The larger count you have, the deeper discount you will receive in your contract."
  • "Our licensing fees are about $5 USD per endpoint, per month."
  • "USD$6 per end point which decreases as end points increase."
  • "Pricing is a bit of a pain point. That's where we have not been able to convince all of our customers to use SentinelOne. The pricing is still on the higher side. It's almost double the price, if not more, of a normal antivirus, such as NOD32, Kaspersky, or Symantec."

Jeff D. who is an Operations Manager at Proton Dealership IT, tells us that "The detection rate for Sentinel One has been excellent and we have been able to resolve many potential threats with zero client impact. The ability to deploy via our RMM allows us to quickly secure new clients and provides peace of mind."
