Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Being able to proactively identify issues on user systems.""The data the solution provides is valuable to us; we can see the health of the machines, how they are performing, and what might be causing issues on a particular machine.""The dashboard is very effective.""We could resolve issues that they had been facing for months or years. They had been having the same issues, the same performance problems, whether it was Excel taking a long time to load, or network instability, or voice call problems, and we would fix it in minutes, in front of them in a meeting, with absolute confidence. It would just blow their minds.""The user experience it provides is the most valuable feature for us.""The ability to quickly utilize the dashboard to gather information is valuable from a DXI perspective.""The infrastructure data, especially the CPU and memory data, is per second, which makes it outstanding as compared to other solutions. Its licensing cost is very low for us.""The two most valuable features for us are its abilities to validate the customer experience and to measure performance before and after upgrades."

"We have found the combination of analytics and automation in this solution to be very valuable to our organization, as it allows for us to perform auto-resolution on customer issues.""I like everything about this product.""The solution is stable.""This is a proactive management tool and we make use of the metrics, dashboard creation and complete remote actions on end user machines.""The auto building capability has been most valuable. It keeps on checking the system in terms of various factors like battery, memory usage and application usage.""All the features of Nexthink are really useful when it comes to providing visibility into the endpoints and the services that we are monitoring, but the most interesting and useful features are the campaign and remote actions.""The search engine functionality that Nexthink has on the finder is terrific.""Although limited to 100,000,000 events per engine, it is suffice to do investigations for more than 30 days."

Cons
"Integrating the tool with other products is a challenge.""I would like to get more granular detail. In regards to defining the applications and activities upfront, that can be challenging. Simplifying that would be a big win. One of the things that I know they are already working on is a verbose mode.""We are waiting for the GA release of their agent. I hope they can do better when they release their endpoint agents. Right now, we are not able to measure some applications, core applications, because it's relying on a specific version of the agent and that agent has not come out yet and there's no ETA. I would like to see them speed up time to market when they release agents.""It all comes in pretty nice looking charts and things, but we have a hard time pulling out hard data, which is usually what you'll need if you're trying to be actionable.""Signature development process requires deep technical expertise in the application and in the use of their studio tools that help you create it.""The only thing I can say which has been frustrating are the Tableau workspace/dashboard options out-of-the-box, at least prior to version 8.""I would improve the dashboard, the presentation player.""Their technical support should be improved in terms of response time. Its stability should also be better. We are currently using version 10, and its stability is not so high. The server crashes from time to time and needs to be restarted. Sometimes, you also have problems with applications."

More Alluvio Aternity Cons →

"The solution could provide more training. There should be proper documentation on the solution because even for small issues we have needed to reach out to the support team. The person who is doing all the administration work should have the proper information, but the problem is the documentation is lacking. There is no proper training or documentation available. Nexthink is holding all the information. We want to learn, but you can not without the information.""The tool should improve its pricing and performance. It also have nothing related to patch management.""We've had some issues integrating Nexthink with the cloud, so there are some delays in bandwidth, causing it to slow down a little. If they added better integration with the public cloud, I would be more likely to recommend it to customers.""The initial setup needs technical knowledge.""The stability of this solution could be greatly improved to avoid performance issues.""Nexthink could have better integration with ITSM tools - at the moment, they only integrate with ServiceNow, so adding other tools, like HP SMAX, would be very useful.""I would like it if they could put in some patch deployments and compliances.""It would be good to have a more controlled way to access their cloud environment."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Our management squeezed Aternity pretty hard on the pricing, in my opinion a little too much. I advise negotiating for sure, but I do think it left kind of a sour taste in Aternity’s mouth that we were being so pushy despite the fact that we were only purchasing a small number of licenses."
  • "It’s a little on the costly side, but if you license intelligently, accounting for your various hosts connecting in through VDI or terminal servers, you can make it well worth your money."
  • "If the scale of your monitoring will be to go everywhere in an organization, a site license is key."
  • "Pricing is a bit high. Don't take that as the "be all, end all"."
  • "In my opinion they are asking a lot for their SaaS solution, but I also know that that's the direction they're going... The current, on-prem solution is probably a fair price."
  • "The pricing for the users and agents is reasonable compared to other solutions and vendors."
  • "Regarding cost, compared to other solutions, Aternity is pretty low. It's definitely lower-cost than others that we looked at, like Nexthink."
  • "The pricing is fair."
  • More Alluvio Aternity Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Nexthink can pay for itself quickly if you identify and complete the most valuable use cases. The tool can do so much that to purely compare the price in a static way to other tools in your arsenal would be a mistake. If you do a more dynamic comparison that’s based on the overall functionality and use cases possible then it comes out cheaper. You need to consider it a relative measurement against potential use cases, size of the organization, maturity of organization, etc."
  • "With this implementation of the Act and Engage module, I believe that there is a one-time fee for a two-month period, which is for the support team to make additional customizations."
  • "I have seen it help improve the user experience scores. This helped clients to save costs on another tool that they were trying to deploy in order to improve the user experience by just deploying some scripts. We were able to identify the issues and help them remediate those using our help. The process does not take much time and it provided background on end user performance. Therefore, they were able to save a lot, e.g., for approximately 50,000 endpoints at two dollars per machine per year, that is about $100,000 in savings."
  • "There are certain layers when it comes to pricing. The product has three layers and these layers are associated with certain sources. For example, the top layer have the premium services and the bottom layer has the basic services."
  • "I would rate the tool's pricing a nine out of ten. The tool's pricing model is pay-as-you-use."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Aternity users.

PeerSpot user Ryan P., Head of Cyber Security Engineering & Oversight at a media company, says, "The most valuable thing that you get from Aternity is very broad visibility. You get visibility of your network, of your endpoints, of your software usage, your application performance, capacity, in one pane of glass. We had 20 to 30 IT tools, including application performance monitoring, network monitoring, security, endpoint detection, network protection, capacity management, service management — every kind of monitoring you can imagine. But Aternity was always the first place that I turned for anything, because you can see everything in it."

An Endpoint Administration Manager at a financial services firm mentions, “It gives you the ability to filter the comparison by geography, industry, or company size.” He also adds, “We have absolutely seen ROI. It's really given us a very high level of visibility that we've just not ever had.”

A Regional Network Manager at a recruiting/HR firm comments, "Aternity provides metrics about actual employee experience of all business-critical apps, rather than just a few. It does some out-of-the-box monitoring for the Office suite, but you can create custom monitoring for any of your applications, whether a web client or a desktop application."

A Sr. IT Manager at a manufacturing company states, "The most valuable feature is the application performance troubleshooting because Aternity is able to provide the performance from the end-user perspective. It doesn't just give the standard application logon time, etc., rather it's also able to measure the performance inside the application, the performance of specific transactions in the application, and break it down into three elements: the client time, the network time, and the server time. This gives us a lot of insights into what we need to focus on to improve the performance of an application."
