Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The drag-and-drop functionality, the ready-to-use analytics module, and the ability to track my data pipelines visually are the solution's most valuable features.""Data processing is most valuable. It is one of the fastest data blockers out there in the market, which is a fascinating thing about Alteryx.""The data transformation feature is the most valuable. The ability to ingest data, visualize data, and transform that data is useful.""The product's Macros probably are one of the most useful aspects.""The tools are built-in. You just plug and play, drag and drop, once you understand how to use the tools, it is easy.""The most valuable feature is user-friendliness, as Alteryx can be used by those without any coding experience or experienced data scientists as it has the functionality to embed R and Python scripts.""The three data signs and data engineering are great features.""Alteryx has made us more agile and increased the speed and effectiveness of decision making."

"Domo is not a difficult tool to learn. All you need to know is the SQL for the ETL part. You don't need to write much code. That's the great part. It uses legacy languages, like SQL, which is very common among developers who then don't have to go and learn Domo's own syntax. Therefore, you don't have to learn another hard language to use Domo.""The best thing is that the data storage is pretty much free. I can store as much data as I want, from different sources.""I mostly see it as an ETL which has many system connectors. It does a good job of ETL.""All our client SLAs and daily and weekly dashboards are tracked on Domo.""The solution is highly stable.""In general, Domo is very powerful and very easy to use, relatively speaking.""We find the ease of using the solution valuable.""What makes me really fond of Domo is the ETL because it enables us to maximize a single platform for pulling reports and automating things. We can send the raw data from a third-party platform and do the rest of the ETL in Domo, including transforming data, adding columns, etc."

Cons
"It would be great if Alteryx could take third party tools and incorporate them.""It's a technical product and those that don't have proper training will have to deal with a steep learning curve.""Alteryx can improve in data science. They have to have more features and components in the data science aspect because they claim to be a data science tool. However, in order to be more competitive, they have to improve on their data science propositions. Thre are other solutions on the market, such as other players in the market, Data2Go or DataIQ, and Alteryx needs to catch up.""The technical support could have a little bit of improvement.""The event handling, such that the file system watcher, is in need of improvement.""We are hoping that the NLP features will also support Chinese characters.""There is currently no cloud solution and this would be valuable for many clients.""The formula we currently use in Alteryx can be automated."

"It's too early for me to say that something needs improvement, but there are times when there have been some flexibility issues with Domo... Tableau has a window function which can be integrated into a calculated field. That is missing in Domo so you have to make changes to the data set using ETL or SQL.""It is expensive.""In terms of the analytics, there is quite a limited set of options when using Domo. Whereas with Tableau we can perform heavy statistical computations, Domo doesn't have that capability. Domo is quite limited on that side.""Domo or any other BI tool has room for improvement, in particular, in the calculations. User-guided material isn't available for calculations. The tool, though user-friendly, could also be more customizable, especially when you're building a dashboard. Data integration could also be improved in Domo because even if the tool connects to multiple data sources, some hiccups still arise and need to be addressed.""Their STK is not up to date and you can't access it on their website. They have a private STK to access resources in Domo.""When you're exporting a graph out of Domo — suppose it is in the form of a donut chart or it is in form of a stack — the data comes out in tabular format, not as a graph. When exporting the data, I would like them to create a tab for graphs and another tab with the data in tabular format.""It is expensive.""There were very few cases on some of the tables, the data tables, where I wish there was an additional feature or two."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "A designer and scheduler for $13K/year in total is pretty much earning you the money back in time and in other resources."
  • "Very transparent."
  • "The seat is too expensive."
  • "It can be a bit pricey, especially after the first year."
  • "The pricing is $5000 per year per production license."
  • "We have a yearly cost that we pay for the licensing. We do not pay any costs in addition to the licensing fees."
  • "There are some implementation services and internal effort costs at the beginning but there is nothing else."
  • "The price for Alteryx Designer is reasonable but the price for Alteryx Server for universal collaborations is too expensive."
  • More Alteryx Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "I believe that the investment in Domo was worthwhile because it allowed for the organization to jump in quickly, with little training. There are different plans available based on the requirements."
  • "They've built an "app economy." Some of them are really expensive, so they're not for startups and smaller companies. They're more like enterprise tools. We couldn't afford some of them, because they were so crazy expensive. But if I was working for a bank, insurance company, or some bigger corporation then, for sure, you could justify those prices... It was silly expensive back then and it probably still is, or even more expensive."
  • "We are making money from Domo, and all our clients are happy with the information that they receive from it."
  • "It is on the pricier end."
  • "Domo is slightly costly but it's much cheaper than some."
  • "I'm not sure about pricing, but I believe Domo is quite costly. Prior to joining this organization, I had a Domo license with my former employer and I think that license was around $500 to $600 annually. That was for a single license. I think it varies, depending on the organization that is acquiring Domo."
  • "For about 100 users our cost is $95,800."
  • "Because it's software as a service, it's more expensive on the face of it. But there are a lot of variables. I don't have to pay for servers or for infrastructure. I don't have to pay labor for my IT organization to set up or maintain the environment. I don't have to pay for them to upgrade the software, and test it, etc., because when it rolls out, it is transparent and seamless for us. But, because of that, it costs more, I imagine, than Sisense, or Yellowfin, or Power BI. A lot of those make it sound like they're inexpensive, but when you add in all the hidden costs and all of the overhead, it's probably comparable."
