We performed a comparison between Amazon AWS and Dell ECS based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison of Results: Based on the parameters we compared, Amazon AWS seems to be the marginally superior solution. Our reviewers found Dell ECS’s supporting documentation to be incomplete.
"We write a lot of Lambda functions for various services, as well as serverless functions."
"We deploy our core application and our integration platform on AWS EC2 instances. These applications contain multiple containerized Python Django applications, which need to scale up and down dynamically."
"You can instantly scale resources up or down as needed, avoiding the need to build infrastructure from scratch."
"Serverless computing: This can be more cost-efficient just regarding computing resources than renting or purchasing a fixed quantity of servers, which involves periods of underutilization or nonuse."
"The performance of AWS is excellent."
"The most valuable features are load balancers, databases, and S3 buckets."
"The AWS feature that I most enjoy is Lambda functions. I primarily use serverless components because they allow you to process things without having to compromise on resources like when running EC2 instances or virtual machines. With minimal effort, you can scale up an unlimited number of processes, even concurrently, to process things. I frequently work with web APIs, so I use Lambda a lot in this area."
"I have found the trusted advisor tool works well, we are using it to get some insight into the security status and the processing of the applications."
"I have been satisfied with the stability."
"Dell ECS is a cost-effective solution that provides ease of use and availability."
"The tool is easy to use."
"It's my understanding that the initial setup is straightforward."
"This product is very competitive."
"It is 100% stable. It is also scalable."
"The scalability is good."
"What I like best about Dell ECS is its stability. I also like that you can use it for large-scale data purposes. The solution works fine for me, and I haven't encountered any issues with it."
"I'd like to see integration with MySQL."
"The price could be better."
"In terms of additional features we'd like to see, the one thing that comes to mind is better integration with Oracle. We have a lot of Oracle databases, and there is no other option to either migrate to PaaS, stay on-prem, or use Oracle Private Cloud."
"An integrated platform would make it easier for administrators to monitor and manage."
"One problem is that the AWS public cloud doesn't have shared storage capabilities. The second thing is the cloud performance versus on-prem."
"Identity and access management on AWS could be straightforward."
"An easier way to determine estimated costs quickly would be helpful."
"Amazon support could be better."
"Its security can be improved."
"It is a good solution, except for the cost."
"The initial setup is not so easy."
"They do not have complete documentation, which is very weak and could be improved."
"The major weakness in the solution is that there is no cloud version for Dell ECS."
"We have concerns about the write performance. We would also like it to be easier to scale out, to add more boxes to the system. And we want improved performance, to use a next-generation NFS service."
"The solution could be more cost-effective and secure."
"The troubleshooting feature of this solution needs to be improved, to allow organizations to fix issues without having to contact the support team."
