We performed a comparison between AWS Security Hub and Sumo Logic Security based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable feature is the performance because unlike legacy SIEMs that were on-premises, it does not require as much maintenance."
"One of the most valuable features is that it creates a kind of a single pane of glass for organizations that already use Microsoft software. So, when they have things like Microsoft 365, it is very easy for them to kind of plug in or enroll those endpoints into the Azure Sentinel service."
"The main benefit is the ease of integration."
"Sentinel is a Microsoft product, so they provide very robust use cases and analytic groups, which are very beneficial for the security team. I also like the ability to integrate data sources into the software for on-premise and cloud-based solutions."
"The native integration of the Microsoft security solution has been essential because it helps reduce some false positives, especially with some of the impossible travel rules that may be configured in Microsoft 365. For some organizations, that might be benign because they're using VPNs, etc."
"If you know how to do KQL (kusto query language) queries, which are how you query the log data inside Sentinel, the information is pretty rich. You can get down to a good level of detail regarding event information or notifications."
"It has a lot of great features."
"The solution offers a lot of data on events. It helps us create specific detection strategies."
"Currently, our organization utilizes AWS for various purposes, including SaaS (Software as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service), and hosting applications in the cloud. We develop our applications and use AWS services as a platform for basic functions and secondary development needs. Additionally, we rely on PaaS for accounting services. Approximately, 50% of our applications are hosted in the cloud environment, making it a significant part of our current setup."
"The most valuable features of the solution are the scanning of all the cloud environments and most of the compliances available in the cloud."
"The best feature of AWS Security Hub is that you can get compliance or your cloud's current security posture."
"Finding out if your infrastructure is secure is a valuable feature."
"AWS Security Hub provides comprehensive alerts about potential compliance issues with CIS standards. The integration with third-party tools is another excellent feature. All our workloads are on AWS."
"I really like the seamless integration with the AWS account structure. It can even be made mandatory as part of the landing zone. These are great features. And there's a single pane of glass for the entire account."
"Very good at detection and providing real-time alerts."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is easy to manage...It is a scalable solution."
"The tool has key features like operability. It will alert the admins whenever a device is onboarded."
"I have no concerns about the stability of the product. I feel it handles the stress we put on it very well."
"Support has been excellent. Sumo Logic's support staff is really good, both their account management staff and direct support."
"Sumo Logic Security is a good solution for searching the logs and identifying the issues."
"The most valuable features of Sumo Logic Security are the rules, use cases, and ease of use. Additionally, the integration is straightforward and good GUI."
"Sumo Logic is an easy solution to use. You can set it up very quickly, and it includes a lot of training videos."
"We are able to diagnose problems before our customers."
"We can ingest logs and make reports out of them. It is a good tool which can help us monitor any issues."
"We'd like also a better ticketing system, which is older."
"Microsoft Sentinel should provide an alternative query language to KQL for users who lack KQL expertise."
"Everyone has their favorites. There is always room for improvement, and everybody will say, "I wish you could do this for me or that for me." It is a personal thing based on how you use the tool. I do not necessarily have those thoughts, and they are probably not really valuable because they are unique to the context of the user, but broadly, where it can continue to improve is by adding more connectors to more systems."
"The AI capabilities must be improved."
"They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome."
"They need to work with other security vendors. For example, we replaced our email gateway with Symantec, but we couldn't collect these logs with Azure Sentinel. Instead of collecting these logs with Azure Sentinel, we are collecting them on Qradar. We couldn't do it with Sentinel, which is a problem for us."
"Currently, the watchlist feature is being utilized, and although there have been improvements, it is still not fully optimized."
"They could use some kind of workbook. There is some limitation doing the editing and creating the workbook."
"The solution lacks self-sufficiency."
"AWS Security Hub's configuration and integration are areas where it lacks and needs to improve."
"One aspect that could be improved in the solution is its adaptability to different markets and geopolitical restrictions. In certain regions like Thailand, specific services from certain countries or providers, such as AWS or Azure, might be limited or blocked. It also needs improvement in would require configuring the solution more adaptable to AWS infrastructure and function."
"The telemetry doesn't always go into the control center. When you have multiple instances running in AWS, you need a control tower to take feeds from Security Hub and analyze your results. Sometimes exemptions aren't passed between the control tower and Security Hub. The configuration gets mixed up or you don't get the desired results."
"The solution will only give you insight if you have configure rule enabled. It should work more like Prisma Cloud and Dome9 which have a better approach."
"From an improvement perspective, there is a need to add more compliance since, right now, AWS Security Hub only provides four to five compliances to control the tool."
"The user interface, graphs, and dashboards of the solution could improve in the future. They are not very sophisticated and could use an update."
"It's not user-friendly. Too much going on, too many unnecessary findings, not very visual. You can't do much compared to other similar tools that are cheaper and better."
"If you want to up your subscription through the AWS Marketplace, it can be difficult. You can't just go back to the AWS Marketplace, and say, "I want a bigger one now." You have to contact the sales team, then they do it on the back-end. This could definitely be improved."
"I would like better UI-driven functionality to create alerts and reports. Now, we have to understand the syntax, so it is a little difficult for someone to pick it up without using the manuals. If there was more of a graphical user interface, it would be beneficial."
"It took a bit of trial and error to get it set up correctly based on everything we had to do. In the end, we had to send everything over HTTP, which was sort of a stop-gap."
"The initial setup is the most stressful, like learning how to use it."
"Sumo Logic needs to make sure integrating solutions are seamless."
"There are some API gaps that are missing."
"There needs to be improvement on imported data which can be used within Sumo Logic to do more advanced queries."
"I would like to see improvement in the user experience when configuring things, ingesting logs, and creating ports."
