We performed a comparison between Check Point Security Management and Splunk Cloud Platform based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Log Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Each department can easily share data with the management without fear of data compromise."
"One of the most outstanding characteristics of its centralized administration is its great computing power."
"We can track logs of each firewall which is very helpful."
"It's a great complete endpoint security solution that prevents the most imminent threats to the endpoint such as ransomware, phishing, or malware."
"The Check Point Management server is isolated from security gateways, which means that in case there is an issue, we have our configuration ready and we can directly replace the device and push the configuration."
"Being able to install a version of Check Point Security Management helps us avoid the expense of creating a server dedicated to that function, and we save on equipment and technical personnel in installing it, which in the end accelerates the administration and management of equipment to connect to it."
"Check Point management is one of the most complete solutions for managing Check Point Firewall appliances."
"It's a great solution for management. We can manage a lot at the same time with one security management system. Also, each gateway depends on the other, which is helpful."
"The cloud is very fast."
"I can trace an event back to its root cause. I can find the root cause instead of just looking at the symptoms across different things."
"Its interconnectivity with the cloud platforms, such as Azure and AWS, was valuable."
"Not having to manage Splunk Cloud's infrastructure is valuable."
"We haven't had any limitations or problems connecting to our network devices."
"Splunk helped reduce our mean time to resolve by around 60%."
"I like the Cloud monitoring console feature."
"The data management and instant search features are the most valuable ones for us, as they allow us to instantly retrieve information needed for reports and security compliance."
"The reporting should be improved in future releases. It needs to be very explicit. This is very important."
"Policy installation time can be reduced."
"In the last version from 80.20, there are some issues around SSNA Diction. I would like this to be improved."
"The graphical interface is nice but it is a bit heavy."
"Support is the main area that they need to improve. Our support experience is not very smooth. We are based in Africa, and we don't know whether it is because of our region. I would like a feature where there is a workflow to provide authorization to some users before they're able to create and apply rules. Such a feature should be integrated with the management. It should not be in the box that comes with it."
"Check Point's hybrid cloud integration needs significant improvements. These resources need to evolve as data transfers to the cloud increase, so hybrid cloud models are easier to implement. Better hybrid cloud integration would improve how we manage our security logs and provide our administrators with a low-cost solution that enables them to meet all our essential requirements."
"While the console and administration work well, they have to work on performance since it consumes a lot of CPU and memory."
"In the future, I would like the platform to be able to integrate or manage appliances or third-party equipment."
"The security connection should have a seamless integration. Other than that, the way we are using it, so far, it seems quite good."
"Its stability and performance can be better. Very rarely does a day go by when we do not see an error in the console, such as a health check error. Because it is cloud-hosted, we do not have access to the backend to figure it out ourselves. We are reliant on their support to figure it out, and a couple of days later, the error comes back or it is a different error. It is a never-ending cycle of support tickets. Their support is also not great."
"Support could be improved."
"There is sometimes no documentation or updated documentation available."
"The pricing model makes the product costly."
"The current visuals on the dashboard could be more impactful."
"When one of my customers needs an app, and I am able to find that app on the Splunk base, I have to create a ticket and wait for five days for them to download the app into the cloud environment. That is probably one of the main things. It is painful because I have to wait to get that app in the cloud."
"Support is the bigger issue when we have a problem. When we need their help, it takes weeks or months to actually get resolved."
