We performed a comparison between Dell Unity XT and HPE StoreVirtual based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Dell Technologies, NetApp, Pure Storage and others in All-Flash Storage."The most valuable features of Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its superior performance compared to other flash tiers, as well as its ease of use, with an intuitive user interface that is simple to deploy and use."
"The standout features for us in Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its robust DDoS protection, seamless transparent failover, and failback capabilities ensuring high availability."
"The Pure1 component is most valuable at this point in time when comparing it with EMC. Pure1 is where you can have your diagnostics in the cloud, so you can look at things from your mobile phone."
"It has benefited my organization because it has reduced time to insights."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use."
"FlashArray has some fresh efficiency features. I've never seen a storage solution with a compression rating this high before. It's at least 4-to-1 on Oracle databases. It's the best flash storage for Oracle."
"We're able to get higher-density workloads on the same infrastructure, and we have a smaller physical footprint. The performance is excellent – during our test the bottlenecks are never on the X array, it just keeps picking up the pace to match what you need. The real-time visibility is a differentiator in my opinion."
"Pure FlashArray X NVMe helps to improve our processing speed. It is user-friendly and easy to use."
"We run about 100 virtual servers on it. We have about 100 users accessing the file shares from there, and I've seen no problem with that. We have about a 10GB backbone. Whatever we throw at it, it hasn't shown any sign of weakness or anything. It's been really good."
"It is simple to use and easy to manage. We don't touch it after we set it up."
"The All-Flash models are pretty fast for the vast majority of our remote workloads."
"This solution makes it easy to manage storage, provision new workloads, and scale-up."
"It is definitely one of the most robust, solid, well-performing products that I have dealt with. It is set it and forget it, which is pretty amazing."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is the unified storage. Also, its capabilities for block-access, file access, and the center box."
"I like the easy management with the new Unisphere management and the HTML5 interface."
"We like the way it integrates with our environment. These features help us use multiple soft applications. The new features of going off the grid and replicating really help us. They give us an advantage versus traditional storage resources."
"HPE StoreVirtual is very easy to use from the management console."
"Simplicity of not having to buy FC or FCoE SAN. Instead, we buy servers with their own storage."
"The network RAID feature gives us maximum availability, since we cannot afford any downtime, even for a second."
"All of the administrative tasks are easy and everything is centralized."
"I guess on the top of the list is certainly ease of use."
"A company can scale it easily."
"Thin provisioning lets us get the most value from the hard drives."
"The solution is very stable."
"The tool's portfolio is minimal. It is expensive."
"The software layer has to improve."
"There is room for improvement in catering to midrange storage needs, especially for customers seeking Enterprise-class features."
"You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me."
"It's more multi-tenant functionality in their Pure1 manage portal that is lacking."
"I would like to see replication and DR features in the next release of this solution."
"The tool's pricing is higher than competitors."
"Our use cases require more multi-tenant capabilities and additional VLAN interfaces for separating different customers. We currently use it to provide storage, sometimes shared storage, to different customers, but it is less flexible in comparison to a dedicated solution."
"The solution can use improvement with the patch cluster like the Synchron and Active replication."
"Dell EMC's competitor has a clustering technology. In the next release, it would be nice if they could build that into the product."
"Replication with VMware - it's called the vSphere Metro Storage Cluster - is lacking in the Unity and is present in Compellent."
"Dell Unity XT could improve the compatibility of some of the features. Some of my customers had some problems. Additionally, it would be beneficial for the solution to have advanced AI and ML features."
"The EMC VNX Virtual Data Mover (VDM) software needs more improvement."
"I think that they could do a better job of testing on the back-end, for the code revisions. I've heard of some issues down the line where people have upgraded to the latest code and there were bugs in it, and they had to release a subsequent code fix."
"We would like to see the concept of Storage Groups brought back to this product line."
"The one thing that we would look at would be if they were to expand the file level features, just to give us a balance or a tier between it and Isilon options out there, for unstructured data."
"Configuration of application integrated snapshots for VMware is convoluted and it did not work immediately."
"The initial setup could be simplified to make it easier for new users."
"The solution needs to ensure it is on par with the industry in terms of availability of features and various other options."
"The product is coming to end-of-life in the next three years."
"It would be nice if there were more parts available in Brazil and HPE could swap out faulty equipment quicker."
"It is a costly solution."
"Product looks like it is in the end of development."
"I would like to have this solution easily integrate with VMware."
