We performed a comparison between Everbridge IT Alerting and PagerDuty Operations Cloud based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two IT Alerting and Incident Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The response time is real-time alerting. It is very helpful, because it makes things a lot easier. All we have to do is put a circle around a geo-fence and shoot off a message."
"It's mainly for mass notification and pooling of contacts. Pooling of customers is valuable."
"The most valuable feature is automated escalation, as it eliminates a manual process which is prone to errors."
"You can program in rotations, shifts, and scenarios of different kinds and it allows you to page multiple people, or people in sequence, or a group of people simultaneously."
"It's a lot easier to create and manage schedules, especially in comparison to the on-call scheduling creation in ServiceNow. That has always been something of a bear to operate. We've found it's a lot simpler in Everbridge."
"A robust solution with multiple modules that can be leveraged."
"Our performance showed us that, for major incidents, we spent over 40 minutes just making manual call-outs. That is why we implement the tool in the first place and that time has been cut down to two or three minutes."
"Valuable features include having the Calendar built in. That allows for on-call rotation to be set once and left alone. Also, Slack Integration enables us to have all the information from an incident and discussions documented through Slack, without input."
"It reduces the amount of white noise. If something comes through, then it will alert somebody. However, if it's a bit of white noise that comes through at night, then it gets dealt with the next day. Everything is visible to everybody. It's not just a single person getting an SMS, then going, "Oh, I'm not going to worry about that." The visibility to everybody on the team is one of the great things about it because it reduces the white noise."
"PagerDuty's notification process is the most valuable feature."
"PagerDuty let us set up rosters based on our shifts. We could assign a hierarchy for how the calls should be escalated and the number of times the call will be transferred between people before it is answered. It makes it easy to access an agent via mobile phone."
"The SMS pages and the mobile application are pretty much the top two features."
"It has scaled well for us."
"The solution's most valuable features are that it adds each alert as a service, has good scheduling capabilities, and includes the ability to write logic based on texts."
"The most valuable feature is the phone app that allows us to send notifications without the additional fees when sending by SMS or phone calls."
"The product has valuable on-call scheduling, escalation, and incident workflow management features."
"The ability for members to change their schedules, and change the person their swapping with, could use improvement. The GUI is a little tough to navigate. It's not very straightforward when someone is trying to change schedules."
"Their integration capabilities are still progressing, but not quite where we'd like to see them yet. They're moving there with that orchestration capability where they're seeing the potential of an API-first mentality. So instead of trying to build custom connections into everything, you open up APIs to allow other systems to talk to IT Alerting and allow IT Alerting to talk to other systems. There is room for improvement, but they get it."
"You have to create schedules in Everbridge. It would be better if it could tie into an existing solution, such as Microsoft Exchange or Google Calendar, so that you don't have to create it in both places. That's one thing it lacks right now. You can't just say, "Hey, look at this Microsoft calendar. That's what we want to use." You have to create it in Everbridge."
"The company would like to have super detailed analytics, as we integrate this with our security software."
"The ability to not have to worry about the IT alerting and calendar resources. I would like it to be simpler in the sense of a different cost structure."
"The initial setup was very complex. We did not have a very good experience with our initial deployment. Most of this was due to customizations in our ServiceNow instance."
"The integration with other solutions needs improvement... Due to issues with the libraries provided by Everbridge, we have not been able to integrate IT Alerting with our incident management tool."
"One thing that could be improved would be to enable the mobile app to more easily display published calendars via the Member Portal. Currently, it is quite difficult."
"I am not a direct end user of PagerDuty. It's hard to consider its shortcomings in that sense."
"PagerDuty's webhooks need some improvement."
"PagerDuty should be integrated with other tools, so it can import the IT roster automatically. Our other rules continue to work once they're configured, but the roster must be added manually."
"The solution does not code all alerts correctly so sometimes you get false positives or multiple alerts for the same issue."
"The biggest area for improvement with PagerDuty is noise suppression. There have been a handful of incidents through our use of PagerDuty over the years where one incident may lead to 30 to 50 pages because you're monitoring all these different things, and each thing is an individual page. There should be the ability to set up paging tiers and group correlations between some of the different pages. That is something that would be really valuable. We should be able to say this one page may have a group or a tree of effective other pages that may tier off of it. So, if you see those pages independently, go ahead and alarm, but if you see this plus that, don't do that."
"They could include incident merging and alert grouping features in the product."
"It cannot be integrated with our upgraded Jira system."
"PagerDuty can improve the integration with Terraform."
