We performed a comparison between Katalon Studio and Sauce Labs based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Test Automation Tools solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."I like the feature where you can define a model that represents your website and then reuse the components from the model. It makes creating more test cases easy."
"It has been good so far for API testing on Mac. It is not that hard to learn and use. There is so much support out there, so if anyone wants to start using it, there is enough help."
"Video capture on failure is a must have. A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth a thousand pictures (literally)."
"The most important feature is the Jenkins integration; it is pretty straight forward and allows us to run nightly builds."
"The best feature is the split up between test cases and the test object. This allows us to easily change an error."
"It is easy for a non-technical person to use and adopt."
"It provides us daily feedback on the status (failing/working) of the core features of our websites."
"I personally like the 'Object Spy' feature of this tool. It makes it easy to find an element on the web page."
"Sauce Labs' dashboards contain multiple useful metrics in one place. Everything is represented to us visually on the dashboard, which helps us understand where to focus our attention, what the issues are, and what we need to resolve."
"Easy to integrate with the other platform for tracking purposes."
"The error logging is also very robust. If we run a test through Sauce Labs and there's some sort of issue, a log will appear on the screen. Log messages are usually heinous and horrible... Sauce Labs is incredibly good at saying things like, 'Hey, here is the exact issue. Fix this and you can run the test.' That helps in getting things up and running and executing the way they should."
"Testing my app on cloud has really helped us with save time and resources to procure various hardware and software, and set those up."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to run concurrent automated tests up to a specified value, depending on what we are currently paying for."
"They update for the latest browsers and mobile phones and support a lot of combinations. They have 1,000-plus desktop combinations and browser versions, which is really great. We need that at Applause. The all-in-one testing suite aspect of it is really important because most of our clients prefer to go to one place."
"There is a huge amount of open source, community provided resources."
"Before implementing Sauce Labs, we tested physical devices that team members had to share. It was more feasible when we were all located in one office, but we couldn't leverage our offshore capacity. With this solution, we can do everything remotely, which is essential now that most of us work from home."
"The product is comparatively slow."
"Katalon lacks integration with other software, including integrating other languages like .NET and PHP."
"It would be helpful if they can integrate a feature for performance testing."
"I can say that in my company, we struggle a lot with iOS automation."
"Its stability needs improvement."
"The tool's maintenance is very difficult since they do not follow call by value or call by reference. Due to this, any change happening is not reflected throughout all the test cases. There are some issues with data parameterization as well."
"The integration process with Jira should be enhanced and facilitated."
"Katalon Studio could improve having visual testing, but I think they're launching that feature very soon. We would like to see an increase in the usage of AI."
"Every time that we run scenarios where we need to discover the geolocation of our customers, by default it shows as Palo Alto, California. That's a problem for us and we need a workaround for those cases... It would be helpful if we could enter a latitude and longitude into Sauce Labs configuration and say, "When you run a virtual Chrome device or an iPhone, make this your default location. Then, provide me that device so I can run my scenarios," because we have stores in different regions across the United States."
"We encountered minor issues with stability from time to time but Sauce Labs continues to make improvements."
"I would like for there to be more detail in regards to the quality of our code i.e. how many failures occurred, how many passed based on industry standard metrics, etc."
"It should provide more examples of script code."
"I can't remove team members that have left the organization. I can only set them as inactive. It would be really nice to clean up my data and delete them from the team management."
"Progress towards reducing application testing time can be made."
"Lacks the ability to start multiple tests simultaneously."
"Sauce Labs' dashboard could be improved by adding more filters and allowing more customization options. There was one instance where the dashboard on the Sauce Labs UI didn't meet our requirements, so we had to use the Sauce Labs API to create some apps and dashboards on our own. The API endpoints could be a little more robust and customizable."
