Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I would improve the management. I need to view charts and traffic statistics, but the management console doesn't share that information with me.""The solution doesn't need a proxy for the Prisma Access Firewall.""What's most valuable in Palo Alto Networks Panorama is that it allows us to see the status on the network side, particularly on the endpoint, because we also use it for the internal network.""It's easy to deploy any software or policies.""The most valuable feature of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is the simplicity of rule management. Both this device group and template management are very easy to use.""What I like most about this solution is that it allows me to push multiple policies on multiple followers at the same time.""The solution is very stable. It's reliable. We don't experience bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash. It works as expected.""Managing the firewalls in the branch locations from a central management console is easier."

"We use it to clean up our firewall policies, which gives us better security policy and less junk on the firewalls.""It provides a great visibility around the roots: Root implementing which can be done, roots that have changed, and what has been done. So, it's pretty useful when you have an audit going on.""This solution has helped us to meet our compliance mandates. We implemented the Unified Security Policy (USP). This helped enforce what compliance requirements that we had. We have mitigated and remediated issues that have been brought forth due to that USP showing us issues.""This has helped us to better clean up and audit changes to the firewall policy.""We were hit by the NotPetya attack. Therefore, our whole company and all its sites were down for several months. So, you don't have an attack like that and not need something like Tufin. Other companies can prevent these attacks, or at least slow them down, by having this type of a tool. We will never go back.""The change workflow process is flexible and customizable. I was really impressed with it. It's pretty easy. You can add automatic validation steps. Depending on the security matrix, you can pre-allow whatever flow you want.""One of the main things is to look at what policies haven't been hit, so we can remove those remnant policies when people come in, use it, and it's still left on the Check Point. So when a couple of users say, "This is not needed anymore." We'll remove it.""This solution helps us ensure that security policy is followed across our entire hybrid network. You can have a Unified Security Policy which reaches across all networks, so if you are having a change submitted, it doesn't matter if you're enforcing it or not. You can get an alert saying, "This is a violation." That's a value-add."

Cons
"A bottleneck in Palo Alto Networks Panorama is the licensing. The licensing model for the product is complicated. Another area for improvement is the PDF report generation because you'll notice that it's missing some details.""Storage in Palo Alto Networks Panorama needs improvement. My company also experienced deployment issues when the product was first installed, particularly when binding with the firewall. It's not as user-friendly because not everyone can deploy it without some knowledge.""Its UI and usability could be improved. The way the UI looks could be improved to make it a little bit more intuitive. Other than that, it is a pretty simple product.""The solution could improve by having a true single pane of glass environment for unified management. At the present time, you still have to use three or four different solutions to bring everything together.""Aside from pricing, I don't have any issues with Panorama.""It communicates with remote devices, and sometimes, there is a little bit of delay during its communication with remote devices. There should be real-time communication or updates from the manager to devices.""It is not a cheap product.""We have experienced a few bugs which the team at Palo Alto don't have solutions for."

"We were just talking to them about usage for the F5 platform. They will not be going after specific environments, but a more OpenAPI. They will have other companies write it, etc. It's a little different than I had expected.""I would like to see better report integration in this solution.""This solution increases the time it takes to make changes.""I would like the application to have faster response times. E.g., the dashboard may take up to two minutes to load. Or, when we do the topology seating its two and a half hours. I would like to get those times down and increase the efficiency of the product there.""It needs better reporting with more graphics and more pie charts, so management can understand details. The reports that are done now are full of data and management would like to have an image to help understand, right away, what the reports are saying.""USP does not support VPNs, which is a big thing for us, so we haven't been able to utilize it.""It would be better if they modernized the web GUI. The web interface GUI is simple and not complicated, but it's also too old.""The pricing of the solution is rather expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is high compared to other vendors in the same space. Licensing is also fairly high for different functions to be added on."
  • "With the URL filtering, we probably went down from around four hours in response time to about five minutes."

  • "Initially, Palo Alto looks expensive, but if you dig deeper then you will find that it is very comparable, or even cheaper than other solutions."

  • "We pay approximately $3,000 a year in order to use the product."
  • "The pricing model is reasonable for this class of solutions."
