We performed a comparison between Red Hat Satellite and vCenter Configuration Manager based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Configuration Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."There are so many features, but Windows Autopilot is one of the features that are very valuable for most customers."
"The performance of Microsoft Intune is good."
"We already use a lot of Microsoft products in our company, and therefore, it made sense to also use this product."
"The reporting and analytics features in Microsoft Intune have been a lifesaver."
"Autopilot is the most valuable feature of Microsoft Intune."
"The dashboards, the security, and the customization capabilities work very well for us."
"One of the best features is Windows Autopilot because if you change any of your devices, whatever security policies and compliance policies that applied can be easily migrated to the new devices. Windows Autopilot gives you that flexibility."
"I can see that the patch management process is much improved with the bundled patch management option available in Microsoft Intune compared to the KPI deployment required by the other deployment solutions."
"It plays a significant role in managing the lifecycle of our systems and ensures that we can effectively control and update the software versions to align with our organization's needs."
"The compliance auditing helped me a lot."
"You don't need to depend on any third party. It's a complete solution for patch and configuration management when integrated with the existing system."
"I like the integration with other tools."
"The most valuable feature is the management of the distributed tool we use in the Red Hat Linux Servers."
"The product's most valuable feature is its ability to process patching and updates completely offline without an internet connection."
"The 'remote execution' feature further helps manage systems on a consistent basis."
"Fixing is the most valuable. When you deal with a lot of hardware and software and you have a lot of packages, fixing is a bit difficult. You need to track and pull up all such things, but Satellite makes this task easy. We have branches in other locations, and I can manage other branches by using Satellite Capsule, which is a great feature."
"Configuration Manager simplifies management. Cloning via live migration is a useful feature."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"The platform is straightforward and user friendly."
"This is the best solution for management for the server administrator. VMware has been on the market for many years, so they have a lot of solutions. For on-premises, VMware is the best available solution."
"The solution is stable and we haven't run into issues with bugs or glitches."
"It is a stable solution."
"vCenter Configuration Manager is an easy-to-use solution with good performance and cost management."
"vCenter has some good user experience, and the initial setup is straightforward."
"Reporting could be improved. It needs to be more expensive and robust."
"It's only good for a Microsoft environment."
"The reporting could be improved, as it's pretty poor compared to other products of this type."
"There is room for improvement in integrating additional features such as Purview and SharePoint activities into Intune."
"The product needs to upgrade itself when the server is overloaded."
"The documentation about the custom image setup could be better. Although Microsoft provides the steps to configure Intune or set up or deploy Intune, it doesn't have much information related to custom images. If you ask, "how can we deploy the custom image?" There is no information. The steps they mention ask you to connect to your on-premises environment or create your own image on the cloud itself once there is connectivity. But I needed to go to multiple websites to get all this information. I had to figure out how to upload the custom image if you want to use the on-premise custom image for Cloud PC. If you have the proper subscription, you must have the right access, like global admin or owner. Then you can add your custom image to that. There are no steps mentioned over there. Microsoft Intune doesn't have Chrome browser support. I would like to have that support because they will want it if we pitch the product to clients."
"Reporting needs improvement."
"They should improve its compatibility with other operating systems such as iOS and Linux. It supports Linux but they still need to work on the iOS part."
"Improving integration could lead to a more unified management experience for multiple operating systems within our data center."
"I would like to see the scalability, user interface, and reporting features improved and for the solution to be simplified. Instead of having complex engineering, it should be simple for the user."
"There could be a feature to simplify the process without the requirement of any patch manager subscription."
"There needs to be some margin for improvement in terms of the way Satellite manages subscriptions. It is still very confusing when we have different contracts or different bundles of subscriptions, and we need to manage those within Satellite in a way that's very user-friendly."
"Red Hat Satellite's pricing needs improvement."
"Automation can always be improved and refined to continue to make it better."
"The product could have more diversity in what it is able to deploy and might do better if it was not dedicated to Red Hat products only."
"The product's automation capabilities need enhancement."
"The cost of this solution should be improved."
"It should be easier to use alternate storage."
"It is not so user-friendly that you can just start the host and everything works."
"The solution could provide even more capacity."
"The licensing model has shifted from socket-based to core-based licensing, resulting in increased customer costs. Moreover, if a customer utilizes software like VMware, which integrates seamlessly with ESXi, it becomes even more challenging to consider replacing ESXi. Hence, many customers, particularly in India, are actively exploring alternatives."
"I think the logging side should be improved because it's pretty difficult to keep up to date VMware and with vCenter."
"Some of the migrations are difficult to manage since the solution is not compatible with a few of the operating systems, which poses a challenge during the physical to virtual migration process."
"The functions are not running in HTML5."
