We performed a comparison between Trellix Endpoint Security (ENS) and VMware Carbon Black Endpoint based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Fortinet FortiEDR's scalability is quite good, and you can add licenses to the solution."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"The price is low and quite competitive with others."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"This is stable and scalable."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"It's good that it periodically scans all my drives. I can stay up to date with the status of my drivers and update them if needed."
"The platform’s most valuable features are ease of use, integration, and deployment."
"The product's initial setup phase was straightforward."
"The most valuable features of McAfee MVISION Endpoint are advanced threat protection, web filtering, and removable storage devices in the DLP."
"The most valuable feature is the integration between environments."
"It's very stable and reliable."
"The exploit guard and malware protection features are very useful. The logon tracker feature is also very useful. They have also given new modules such as logout backup, process backup. We ordered these modules from the FireEye market place, and we have installed these modules. We are currently exploring these features."
"A great console with a user-friendly GUI."
"Provides visibility into the chain of attack and threats that use valid operating system processes to execute attacks."
"For Carbon Black Endpoint, the possibility of integration with different other software's log servers is the important thing. Having just one point of view is more interesting so you don't need to go to different places to see all the information."
"The most valuable feature is that it detects and stops malicious executables."
"It gives you all of the information in a short and sweet fashion."
"VMware Carbon Black Endpoint is a highly stable solution."
"I rate Carbon Black CB Defense an eight out of ten for the ease of its initial setup."
"Carbon Black has very good market strategies."
"The threat analysis functionality is good."
"The solution is not user-friendly."
"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions"
"There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors."
"The support needs improvement."
"Intelligence aspects need improvement"
"It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"I would like to see more automation."
"The reports need more development. They need more details on the reports and more details taking the executive view into consideration."
"I would like to see simple processing and reporting online."
"There is room for improvement in the pricing. The price should be improved, it's high."
"The performance could be better. I noticed that it slows down a bit."
"The product’s on-premise version is costly in terms of extra charges for SQL database and Windows server licenses."
"It is a very heavy tool, unfortunately."
"The way that signatures work when using this solution could be improved. They could be more user friendly. We would like the ability to select a client's signature from a menu or file share to save time."
"Integration is difficult, but CB Defense is more powerful than others. It is difficult to implement but easy to pick up many detections."
"Performing a malware scan usually takes a lot of time, more than 24 hours."
"The support is poor."
"But here, we hardly can take any kind of a report out of Carbon Black, so I think that should be something that should be more user-friendly."
"Its compatibility can be improved. It did crash a server during deployment, which is not something that I want to happen. Its deployment should also be easier. The whole deployment cycle needs to be simplified. It is an enterprise solution, and to set it up right now, you have to be an expert."
"Right now, Carbon Black CB Defense doesn't support cloud computing and Kubernetes."
"Carbon Black needs to do a better job of proving their platform in the industry, and providing a bit more access to do industry testing with real world examples to help prove their platform."
"It could be a bit complicated. You have to be very familiar with Carbon Black to understand what it is doing and why it is doing. I would like to have more explanations and simplification in the user interface. It would be good to get help and see more explanations. It should tell us that a software is blocked and the reason for it. It would be good to be able to build chains in terms of what caused what, what worked, and what caused an issue. We are now moving from Carbon Black to Cortex XDR. While choosing antivirus software, we were also looking at Carbon Black because it also has an antivirus package, and it is next-generation, but we were told that Carbon Black doesn't support firewalls. We have Palo Alto firewalls. We would have chosen this solution if it supported firewalls, in particular next-generation firewalls, but unfortunately, it doesn't. Therefore, we decided on Cortex XDR because it integrates with Palo Alto firewalls."
